Nationalism, Imperialism, and Militarism put Europe in a position for war to break out

Nationalism-

The French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars spread out through most of Europe. An idea of a political democracy with a resulting idea that people who have the same ethnic group, language and political rights that they should have independent rights.

Imperialism-

Another factor which contributed to the increase in competition in Europe was imperialism. Great Britain, Germany and France needed foreign markets after the increase in manufacturing caused by the Industrial Revolution.

Militarism

Militarism means that the army and military forces are given a high profile by the government. The growing European divide had led to an arms race between the main countries. The armies of both France and Germany had more than doubled between 1870 and 1914 and there was fierce competition between Britain and Germany for mastery of the seas.

How does the system of Alliances drop all of Europe into war. What triggers it?

The alliance system is a major cause for World War One. This is because it led to the division of Europe into two antagonistic power blocs. The Triple Alliance of Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy were directly opposed by the Entente powers of France and Russia and later included Great Britain to form the Triple Entente in 1907. This division of Europe into two power blocs had increased antagonism and tension between nations of the two blocs. The effect of the Franco-Russian alliance of 1894 on Germany clearly demonstrates this point.

With outbreak of war what problem does the Central Powers have? What does the Schlieffen Plan have to do with it? A map would be good here.
