The Regenesys VSH is designed to effectively remove dissolved, emulsified and free water, particulate, and contaminants. The high performance VHS removes 100% of free and emulsified water, air, and gases. Dissolved gases are reduced to less the 5ppm of water, from 12% gases to less than 0.25% , and particulate to an nominal value dependant on final filtration spec. on a single pass.
This is done by pulling ambient or elevated temperature oil into the unit. The oil flows through the pre –filter media before flowing into the circulation heater where the temperature is raised to 150°F ( 66°C). Oil flows from the heater into the vacuum chamber where it is exposed to a vacuum, normally 1 to 3 Torr. At this vacuum the boiling point of water is approx 40° F effectively boiling off the water and dissolved gas creating a dehydrated oil. An oil discharge pump removes the oil from the vacuum chamber and passes it through a high efficiency particulate filter rated to your spec. and then back into the transformer.

LUBE OIL POLISHING
The LCP-series of clay polishing systems from Regenesys provides an economical alternative to hydrogen-treatment plants as a means of adding value to a re-refined lube oil.
The LCP series is designed to act as a final stage for a wipe-film evaporator or other oilre-refinery. It uses a regenerable clay, good for several hundred reactivations, to remove odour and improve the colour of 100N – 300N and 300N – 500N product streams. The LCP-system will produce a water-white and odour-free oil from used lube oil.

Hydrocarbons + Oxygen + Catalyst = Decay products of Oxidation
Transformer oils deteriorate with time. High operating temperatures, the presence of oxygen and water combined with the catalytic action of the materials within the transformer, result in oxidation and cracking of the oil. The byproducts of oxidation acids, peroxide, sludge and asphaltene with the long-term effect of these byproducts resulting in an exponential increase in deterioration of the transformer and its oil. The resulting sludge buildup reduces the cooling effects of the oil driving the whole decay mechanism at an increasingly accelerated rate. The acidity or neutralization number (ASTM D-874)in the transformer becomes critical once 0.25 mg KOH/g oil level has been reached. Preventive measures must be undertaken prior to the oil acidity level reaching this point. Generally, the larger the transformer plate rating, the lower the acid number that triggers regeneration of the oil. Transformers with high acid levels require the oil to be further treated with a Fullers Earth filtration system or Regenesys reusable filter media.
Transformer Oil is not destroyed by being used, but becomes contaminated with particulates, moisture, and dissolved gasses which can be removed from the oil by the vacuum treatment method.

The Regenesys RS series Transformer Oil Regeneration System provides an extremely cost-effective and environmentally acceptable method of extending transformer oil lifetime to over 100 years!
Used oil is strained, heated and filtered prior to flowing into a bank of columns which are filled with an adsorbent media. The oil’s primary physical parameters are restored during this phase. Upon exiting the columns, the oil is passed through a degassification unit and an afterfilter which restores the oil to virgin conditions.

SF6 RECOVERY UNITSulfur Hexafluoride (SF6) is an excellent gaseous dielectric for high voltage power applications. It has been used extensively in high voltage circuit breakers and other switchgear employed by the power industry. Applications for SF6 include gas insulated transmission lines and gas insulated power distribution substations. The combined electrical, physical, chemical and thermal properties offer many advantages when used in power switchgear. Some of the outstanding properties of SF6 which make its use in power applications desirable are:
• High dielectric strength• Unique arc-quenching ability• Excellent thermal stability• Good thermal conductivity
Sulfur Hexafluoride is considered to be a fully fluorinated compound (FFC). Since FFC’s have atmospheric lifetimes of up to 50,000 years, these potent greenhouse gases could contribute significantly and, essentially, permanently to global warming if emissions continue to grow.SF6 is also very expensive.
Due to the above reasons, SF6 is used mostly in applications that allow reclamation as opposed to using it on equipment that requires release of the gas, only to be re-filled with virgin SF6. Regenesys produces a complete line of SF6 recovery equipment.

6TRANSFORMER OIL REGENERATION
The RS-series has two distinct functions; the first is conventional degasification of transformer oil using a thermo-vacuum process and the second is regeneration of used oil via an adsorption process. The regeneration function is further categorised into two phases:
Processing Phase In the process, the oil is regenerated by forced percolation through “adsorptive media” columns. After regeneration, the oil is discharged.
Reactivation Phase After having circulated nominal quantity of oil, the clay beds are usually quite saturated and their efficiency drops off sufficiently to justify reactivation. The clay is reactivated in the columns and a small quantity of oily scum is collected in a holding tank before being drummed for resale and reprocessing, or for waste disposal. The clean oil trapped in the clay is recovered.
