About Workshop on Critical Care Nutrition

The Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (IAPEN) is an organization in the field of parenteral and enteral nutrition and promotes basic research, clinical research, advanced education, organization of consensus statements about clinical care and quality control.

thThe workshop on critical care nutrition is hosted and organised by IAPEN – Lucknow Regional Centre on 11 September at Auditorium, Lucknow Cancer Institute, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow-226001, Uttar Pradesh

In order to promote Advanced Education in Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition and to facilitate the academic pursuits of more number of Nutrition Support Clinicians, Clinical Nutritionists, Nurses and Pharma from the educational institutions, hospitals and health care settings, IAPEN announces Workshop on Critical Care Nutrition at 26 different locations throughout India, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Nutrition is an integral part of healing and maintenance of health. The workshop was designed for medical, nursing & nutrition professionals who were interested in learning nutrition assessment tools, early enteral nutrition, approaches to parenteral nutrition, immunonutrition, disease specific nutrition for fighting againist Iatrogenic Malnutrition. The workshop also contains hands on training on Nutritional calculations, Enteral Diet, Parenteral Nutrition Products handling and mixing and Enteral Nutrition Devices.

This workshop provides the most up-to-date critical care nutrition practice recommendations; latest nutrition assessment tools;and the knowledge and resources you need to take your critical care nutrition practice to the next level. Nutrition is an integral part of healing and maintenance of health. Poor nutritional status in pre, peri and post-operative critical care patients leads to less than optimal outcomes. Nutrition intervention is necessary for treatment of critical care patients. This workshop of IAPEN will provide such a forum for multi-disciplinary interaction on Critical Care Nutrition.

About Venue

In Lucknow, Lucknow Cancer Institute is a recognized name in patient care. They are one of the w e l l - k n o w n H o s p i t a l s i n Hazratganj. The patient planning is being done by the latest Computer assisted methods, like Virtual CT Simulation which is being used for the first time in this part of the country and 3D Plannng System, used is also latest of its kind,

so that proper Radiation dose can be given to the site of the cancer, and minimum damage occurs to the normal tissues.

The Hospital is using all the latest patient immobilizing devices for the treatment of the patients. The Onco-Surgery Wing of the hospital has two fully equipped Operation Theaters, where surgery is done by highly experienced and qualified Onco-Surgeons, supported by skilled and experienced para-medical and nursing staff. In cancer management, Chemotherapy plays an additional and very important role, and the hospital provides this facility with adequate medical staff and the latest Chemotheaputic drugs are administered by the qualified and experienced Oncologists.

The Indian Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition publishes research articles, communications, and reviews on all aspects of basic and applied nutrition. It presents up-to-date, concise, critical reviews of key topics in parenteral and enteral nutrition science advancing new concepts and hypotheses that encourage the exchange of fundamental ideas on nutritional well-being in humans.

Authors interested in publishing papers can mail to [email protected]. Selected papers will be reviewed in the afternoon session of the workshop for possible publication in the journal.

The IAPEN Lifelong Learning Initiative provides stimulating, congenial, and varied opportunities designed specifically for lifelong learners in advanced clinical nutrition research. In order to promote lifelong learning in basic and advanced clinical nutrition and to facilitate the academic pursuits of more number of clinical nutritionists, doctors, dieticians from the educational institutions, hospitals and health care settings, The Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (IAPEN) annouces various distance learning courses.

Lucknow is the capital of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and is also the administrative headquarters of the eponymous District and Division. It is the largest city in Uttar Pradesh, the eleventh most populous city and the twelfth most populous urban agglomeration of India. Lucknow has always been known as a multicultural city that flourished as a North Indian cultural and artistic hub, and the seat of power of Nawabs in the 18th and 19th centuries. It continues to be an important centre of governance, administration, education, commerce, aerospace, finance, pharmaceuticals, technology, design, culture, tourism, music and poetry.

The city stands at an elevation of approximately 123 metres (404 ft) above sea level. Lucknow district covers an area of 2,528 square kilometres (976 sq mi). Bounded on the east by Barabanki, on the west by Unnao, on the south by Raebareli and in the north by Sitapur and Hardoi, Lucknow sits on the northwestern shore of the Gomti River. Hindi is the main language of the city and Urdu is also widely spoken. Lucknow is the centre of Shia Islam in India with the highest Shia Muslim population in India.

The Bara Imambara of Lucknow is one of the most famous monuments of the city. Also known as Asfi Imambara, after the name of the Nawab of Lucknow who got it constructed, it is an important place of worship for the Muslims who come here every year to celebrate the religious festival of Muharram. The Imambara is specially known for its incredible maze,

known as Bhul Bhulaiya locally, which is located in the upper floor of the monument. Hazratganj, the central shopping district of Lucknow, has a long history behind it and has undergone a great makeover that bridges the past and the present and continues to serve as Lucknow's central shopping arcade.

Nawab Wazid Ali Shah Prani Udyan earlier known as Prince of Wales Zoological Gardens or popularly known as Lucknow Zoological Garden is a 71.6acre zoo located in the heart of the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. The Central Zoo Authority of India

categorizes it as a large zoo. The Prince of Wales Zoological Gardens, was established in the year 1921 to commemorate the visit of His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales to Lucknow. The idea of establishing Zoological gardens at Lucknow emanated from Sir Harcourt Butler, the Governor of the State.

Lucknow zoo was established in 1921 to mark the visit of the then Prince of Wales to the city of Nawabs -Lucknow. Some prime possessions are the Royal Bengal Tiger, White Tiger, Lion, Wolf, Hoolock Gibbon, Himalayan Black Bear, Indian Rhinoceros, Black buck, Swamp Deer, Barking Deer, Hog Deer, Asiatic Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Common Otters, Hill Mynahs, Giant Squirrels, Great Pied Hornbill, Golden Pheasant, Silver Pheasant etc. The Zoo is successfully breeding Swamp Deer, Black Buck, Hog Deer and Barking Deer, White Tiger, Indian Wolf and several Pheasants.
