• Miami’s campus in Luxembourg since 1968

• 80% European-based faculty; 20% Ohio-based faculty

• Miami credit and tuition; course list available

• Semester, summer, and year-long options

• All federal and Miami financial aid applies

• Most students fulfill Global Miami Plan credits

Faculty-Led Programs

• International and domestic• Miami faculty, Miami credit• Offerings can vary year to year,

but generally stay consistent• Primarily summer and winter

programs, running 2-8 weeks• Use depends on program – some

offer major coursework, others fulfill Global Miami Plan requirements

• All federal and Miami financial aid can apply, if available

Transfer Credit Programs

• Exchange, Co-Sponsored, Approved

• Supplements courses and locations offered by Miami

• Students travel as individuals rather than in a MU group

• Transfer credits; major courses or electives, with CDA approval

• Cost varies by program; Miami scholarships can be used on some programs

Role of Academic Advisors

• Encourage early planning and help students identify the best term to participate, and academic goals

• Transfer credit approval forms• Communicate student needs that

are not being met• Direct students to the study abroad

website, be familiar with resources and annual fairs

• Invite us to your classes, DAR fests, other advising events

Study Abroad and the Global Miami Plan

Global Miami Plan: Global Perspectives RequirementPre-Fall 2015: 9 hours Fall 2015 and after: 6 hours

Complete with 9 hours of G-Courses, 9 hours of G-Clusters, or 6 hours of Study Abroad

Complete with 6 hours of G-Courses or 6 hours of Study Abroad

INCENTIVE: Complete requirement with fewer hours abroad than required on campus

INCENTIVE: Students can use 3 of their Study Abroad hours to complete the Intercultural Perspectives requirement if those three hours have appropriate content per Liberal Education

Role of Study Abroad Advisors

• Program identification based on personal, academic, and professional goals

• Guidance and support through application process, while they are abroad, and after they have returned
