Planning Admin Extension• An extension in Smart View to manage Hyperion Planning or Planning Cloud

metadata from Excel.• Saves time compared to the usual exporting, editing offline and importing

metadata.• Allows to use the usual Smart View commands like Zoom In, Keep Only, etc. to be

able to focus on a specific section of a dimension at a time. The Simplified Dimension Editor in PBCS takes after this extension.

• Edit more than one member at a time by copy pasting settings across several members.

• Save your changes with Submit Data as you normally would in Smart View (refresh separately).

Creating Applications• Administrators can use Excel to create applications for various cloud services.• Using a downloadable Excel workbook template, you can quickly create, model, and

manage applications in Smart View. • By modifying the worksheets within the application template workbook, you can

define application properties, dimension and member properties, security (access permissions), and substitution variables to fit your needs. You can also load data from the template.

• Only administrators can create an application and only when no application exists in the cloud service (for cloud services that support only one application). Once an application is created, the option is no longer available in the Smart View Panel.

Submit Data Options• The Submit Data button now has two additional options which allow to do the

following:

• Submit Data Without Refresh: Useful to to submit cell data from cells that were modified by a user who does not have Smart View installed. Gets around the “You are in free-form mode. Perform a Refresh before Submit.” error.

• Submit Data Range: Only cell data from selected cells is submitted. If there are dirty cells on the sheet outside the range of selected cells, the modified value is not submitted and those cells will revert back to the value that was last stored in the database.

Pivoting EnhancementsWhen connected to on-premise systems 11.1.2.4 or later or any cloud environment, the POV toolbar and pivoting behavior is enhanced as follows:• Multiple members from the same dimension can now be pivoted from the grid to

the POV toolbar.• Multiple members from the same dimension can now be pivoted from the POV

toolbar to the grid.• A single dimension can now remain on the POV toolbar. In prior releases, only one member in a dimension could be pivoted from the grid to the POV, and from the POV to the grid. Also in prior releases, Essbase only supported having at least two dimension on the POV toolbar.

Runtime Prompts• Smart View runtime prompts for Essbase calculation scripts was erroneously

announced in the .500 path readme and subsequently removed from it once Oracle noticed the mistake.• The announcement was meant for the Essbase 12c version that comes bundled

with OBIEE (different from the EPM version we all know and love).• However, runtime prompts for Essbase calculations are available, just not for Smart

View:

www.rmoug.orgFebruary 20-22, 2018 | Westin Westminster Hotel | Westminster, CO

Runtime Prompts cont.• Runtime prompts in Smart View ARE available and have

been for quite some time for Planning business rules (on premise and cloud).

• Once connected to a Planning application, click on Calculate and you will get a list of the available business rules for each plan type. Select any of them and you will see the corresponding prompts if any.

• Prompts will also show up this way when launching business rules from web forms when opened in Smart View.

Smart View and PowerPoint• Starting in release 11.1.2.5.700, you can insert web forms as charts into Microsoft

PowerPoint, giving you a graphical display of the information in the form.• Data source types: Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud, Oracle Enterprise Planning

and Budgeting Cloud, Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud, Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud.

• Oracle Smart View for Office renders the form information as a chart in PowerPoint. You can use the chart tools in PowerPoint to change the chart design and format. You can insert a Smart View POV reporting object to change the POV of the chart.

• Certain forms may not make ideal charts. Some form data may not present itself well in chart format. Oracle recommends investigating with the forms available to you and working with the forms designers to meet your requirements for charts.
