INTERBEDDED DACITIC TUFF b ARGILLITE - the section ispredominantly argillite with numerous narrow dacitic tuff horizons.The argillitejis a soft^fine grained, dark grey to black, well bedded.aphanitic detrital sediment. Slump features, minor folding and faultingindicative of a sedimentary origin, can be seen in the bedding. Thebedding makes an angle of 50O to 60O with the core axis. The -argilliteis slightly graphitic and carries minor amounts of disseminated pyritewith traces of pyrrhotite.

The dac'tic tuff is the subordinate member of the sequence and is a gr^yto dark grey, fine grained, granular, intermediate fragmental. Thetuff is poorly laminated, the laminations beinst oai*allel to the sedimentarybedding of the argillite.

graphitic and carries sufficient graphite to produce a geophysical conductor.

The rock carries minor amounts of pyrite with occassional nodules and

crystals of pyrite associated with the sedimentary bedding. The contact with

the overlying argillite is sharp and distinct there being -a marked'change

in colour and graphite content. The lower contact with the underlying tuff is\

DACITIC TUFF - a.^grey to dark grey, fine grained, granular, poorly

laminated, intermediate fragmental containing several soft, narrow, dark

grey, argillite horizons. The tuft is poorly laminated, the laminations

making an angle of 50O to 600 with the core axis.INTERBEDDED ARGILLITE AND DACITIC TUFF - the section is

predominantly argillite with numerous narrow dacitic tuff horizons, the

Tlie rock has beensubjected to heavy, weathering which is evident from the soft, friable natureof the rock, the numerous vugs arid extensive iron staining. The unit ispoorly laminated, the laminations ma.kinq an angle of 60O to 70O with the coreaxis. Graded sections can be seen in places.

The rock is cut by several narrow quartz veins some of whichcontain minor amounts of pyrite.
