Devotions to St. Jude Every Wednesday after the 8:00am and 7:00pm masses and privately in St. Jude’s Chapel every day.

Confessions The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available Saturdays at 4:15pm; First Friday at 6:00pm and during adoration after 7pm Mass; Third Friday of the month at 6:30pm and after the Healing mass and other times by appointment.

Sacrament of Baptism Contact the parish at least three months before the desired date of baptism. After contacting the office you will have a group interview with the pastor to discuss requirements, sacramental preparation and any other concerns you may have. Please consider starting the process during the pregnancy which will make the attendance to prep-class easier.

First Communion & Confirmation Program

Parents are asked to contact the office for information. Our programs begin in the fall (September or October) and end with the reception of the sacraments. To pre-register for next year’s program, please call the parish office in June so that your child is included in our list. Orientation will be given during the Summer months.

R.C.I.A. and R.C.I.C. Programs The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) and for Children (RCIC) has now been implemented. Please contact the office to register and arrange to fill out an application for next year. The RCIA will only take place if a minimum of 5 people register.

Adult Confirmation Parishioners who have not made their First Communion and Confirmation and are now 18 years old and up are invited to sign up for our next adult Confirmation Class at the parish office. Proof of baptism is necessary for this program.

Sacrament of Matrimony Couples contemplating marriage at St. Jude’s parish are required to make contact with the parish office and review the marriage package before an interview with the priest. Diocesan regulation demands that marriages are booked one year in advance minimum.

MASS INTENTIONS The readings for this Sunday are about God’s mercy, the necessity for trusting faith and the need for the forgiveness of sins. The opening prayer addresses the Father as "God of everlasting Mercy." In the responsorial psalm we repeat several times, “His mercy endures forever!” (Ps 118). God revealed His mercy, first and foremost, by sending His only-begotten Son, to become our Savior and Lord by His suffering, death and resurrection. Divine mercy is given to us also in each celebration of the sacra-ments.

Christ is Risen, Truly, He is Risen. My brothers and sisters today we celebrate the second Sunday of Easter Sunday and also we celebrate the Divine Mercy. In our Gospel to-day St. John tells us how the Apostles were frightened and afraid of the Jews. Then the Risen Christ breaks through the upper room where the disciples were locked in, out of fear of being crucified themselves, as followers of Jesus. St. John Paul II who was canonized on April 27, 2014 was always saying to all of us, but especially to the young people, “Do not be afraid.” If we read the Holy Scripture, we will find 365 times the words “Do not be afraid.” Why? Because God wants us to trust, have faith and believe in the One who came to save us, Jesus Christ. Jesus appeared to them and said, “Peace be with you” and what that means is another way of saying, “Do not be afraid, you are saved, you are forgiven and you be-long to me.” He forgives our sins because He loves us and has mercy on us. Today also my brothers and sisters, we celebrate the Divine Mercy Sunday. In the year 2000 Our Holy Fa-ther John Paul II instituted a new feast, the Feast of the Divine Mercy and it was celebrat-ed for the first time in 2001 on the Sec-ond Sunday of Easter like today. St. Faustina a faithful nun saw the vision of the risen Christ showing His wounds and from these wounds flowed blue and red rays. The blue rays sym-bolize the holy baptism, the one that makes us sons and daughters of God. Red symbolizes the Blood of Christ, the Divine Life that is nourished at the Holy Eucharistic banquet we celebrate Sunday through Sunday. Also, Jesus Christ in His revelation told St. Faustina “My daughter, tell the whole world about My incon-ceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and espe-cially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Com-munion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eterni-ty. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Eve-

ry soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemn-ly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy.” (Diary pg 699). My brothers and sisters let us take with us the words from St. John Paul II “Do not be afraid” and trust in the Divine Mercy, the Mercy that Jesus has for us, his sons and daughters and remember that “Christ is Risen, Truly, He is Risen”

Divine Mercy Sunday During the course of Jesus' reve-lations to Saint Faustina on the Divine Mercy He asked on nu-merous occasions that a feast day be dedicated to the Divine Mercy and that this feast be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. The liturgical texts of that day, the

second Sunday of Easter, concern the institu-tion of the Sacrament of Penance, the Tribunal of the Divine Mercy, and are thus already suit-ed to the request of Our Lord. This Feast, which had already been granted to the nation of Poland and been celebrated within Vatican City, was granted to the Universal Church by Pope John Paul II on the occasion of the can-onization of Sr. Faustina on 30 April 2000.
