08-03-19 - Observed International Women's Day.

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Sonitpur, Tezpur observedInternational Women's Day on 08-03-2019 by organizing meetings at two (2) Nos.of places, namely at:-

1. ADR Centre, DLSA, Sonitpur, Tezpur, and

2. Zilla Mahila Samiti premises, Tezpur,

1. Observance of Women's day the Lok Adalat Hall of the ADRCentre, Sonitpur . On the occasion of International Women's Day, aprogramme was organized at the conference hall of the ADR Centre of District LegalServices Authority, Sonitpur, Tezpur.

Hon'ble District and Sessions Judge, Sonitpur, Tezpur Smt, I. Barman, SriRamen Baruah, Hon'ble Additional District and Sessions Judge(FTC), Sonitpur,Tezpur, Sri Nasim Akhtar, Hon'ble Additional District and Sessions Judge, Sonitpur,Tezpur, Sri Debashish Saikia, Ld. Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sonitpur, Tezpur, SmtM.C. Bordoloi, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Sonitpur, Tezpur, werepresent at the meeting. The meeting commenced from 09:00 a.m.. Other JudicialOfficers and the staff of the both establishment of District Judge and Chief JudicialMagistrate were also present.

Smt. M.C. Bordoloi, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Sonitpur,Tezpur, in her welcome address highlighted the importance of women's daycelebration. She pointed out that it is not sufficient to celebrate women's day for asingle day rather, it is important to extoll the spirit of womenhood and makeprogress towards a gender equal society everyday. She also pointed out that forbringing about "balance", it is necessary to work in the line of the present year'sUnited Nation's theme for celebration of International Women's Day - i.e. "ThinkEqual, Build smart and innovate for change.

Sri R. Baruah, Hon'ble Additional District and Sessions Judge(FTC), Sonitpur,Tezpur, gave greetings to everyone on the behalf of the entire judicial officersfraternity on the occasion of International Women's Day.

All the women employees including women judicial officers were felicitated.A sappling and a pen were given to all the women officers and employees present.Through the tokens, a beautiful message is sought to be conveyed. Just as asappling would grow into a strong plant, a women is also expected to show heremancipation by spreading her prowess remaining grounded and use the pen as atool to show her worth and strength. Staff of the establishment also expressedgratitude for the felicitation programme. The meeting concluded with a vote ofthanks.

2. Observance of Women's day at Zilla Mahila Samittee . Anotherprogramme for celebration International Women's Day was organized at Zilla MahilaSamittee, premises Tezpur.

Smt. M.C. Bordoloi, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Sonitpur,Tezpur, Sri Nayanmoni Goswami, Panel Advocate and Smt. Abha Borah, PanelAdvocate were present at the meeting.

Smt. Niva Sarma, President, Zila Mahila Samiti gave the welcome address andexpressed her gratitude to District Legal Services Authority, Sonitpur, Tezpur, fororganizing the International Women's Day programme in their premises.

Smt. M.C. Bordoloi, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Sonitpur,Tezpur, in her keynote address gave a brief history relating to the observance ofInternational Women's Day and the need to celebrate the spirit of womanhood notonly in one particular day but everyday. She called upon all the woman to thinkequal and build smart and innovate for change, so that a gender equal societycomes into existence.

Smt. Abha Borah, spoke on women's rights and duties of woman in shapingthe child's future irrespective of gender, as parity should start from home itself.

Sri Nayanmoni Goswami, gave instances where women from villages couldmake a mark with little assistance, to inspire the women attendees. The meetingconcluded with a vote of thanks.
