Coping with issues related to the economic conditions affecting the NMHSs: constant pressure for budget and staff cuts, insufficient qualified personnel, difficulties to maintain and sustain basic functions, due to lack of resources

Enhancement of Climate Services - implementation of GFCS at regional and national level

Implementation of WIGOS and WIS (noting that WIS implementation has already been in progress), including focus on concrete and urgent needs related to the maintenance and improvement of the observing systems and the quality of observations

Enhancement of Services: PWS, DRR/EWS, aviation and related services as well as demonstration and communication of the resulting social and economic benefits, in particular to decision makers / Government

Enhanced international cooperation and partnership: raising the effectiveness and efficiency of the regional activities, building common position on issues like data policy, commercialization and public/private sector relationships

Identical with ER4 Implementation of WIGOS and (noting that implementation has already been in progress):focus on concrete and urgent needs related to the maintenance and improvement of the observing systems and the quality of observations.

Capacity Development

Too broad area; Identical with ER6

No particular RA VI activity, but regarded as necessary element to achieve the strategic goals

Enabling activities

- Enhanced international cooperation and partnership: raising the effectiveness and efficiency of the regional activities, building common position on issues like data policy, commercialization and public/private sector relationships; research

Considered as a crucial element for addressing regional needs


As soon as the work programmes of the RAVI WGs are ready

RAVI TT on the Regional Operating Plan, RAVI TT ROP, is going to

• review existing RAVI OP 2014 – 2015

• start the initial planning for the new OP 2016 – 2019 ...the main emphases for RAVI for the new OP will be on 2016 – 2017
