WMKL AD 2.20 LOCAL TRAFFIC REGULATIONS

1. Local Flying Restrictions

1.1 Langkawi Runway

1.1.1 Uni-directional runway in use due to hilly terrain :- Take-off RWY 21- Landing RWY 03

1.2 Flight Procedures

a) IFR Flights : Visual Departure RWY 03ATC shall obtain the Pilot’s concurrence for visual departure Rwy 03. If the Pilot concurs,the Pilot is responsible for terrain clearance until the acft reaches 4100 FT where IFR flightmanagement takes over. ATC shall avoid giving to the Pilot “A maintain Rwy headinginstruction” as the departure needs to make a right turn to avoid terrain.

b) VFR Flights : In the presence of strong wind by day only, with Pilot’s request, ATC may permit departure Rwy 03 or landing Rwy 21.

1.3 Circling

1.3.1 Circling is prohibited except for Category ‘A’ and Category ‘B’ acft to west of airfield above 750 FT.

1.4 Circuit Pattern
