Kuşların görüldüğü alanlar: Kuş göç hareketleri esnasındahavaalanı içerisinde ve dışarısında konaklama,havalimanı üzerinde göç hareketleri gözlenmektedir.

Kuşların görüldüğü zaman bilgisi: Göç faaliyetleri Mart,Nisan, Mayıs, Haziran, Ağustos, Eylül, Ekim aylarındagerçekleşir. En yoğun aylar Nisan ve Eylül aylarıdır.Göçlerin en yoğun olduğu saatler 08:00-11:00, 14:00-17:00 (LMT) saatleri arasındadır. Bu saatlerde 6, 7 grupsürüler halinde (ortalama sürü sayısı 300-2000)gözlemlenmektedir. İlkbahar’da güneyden yaklaşan kuşlarBelen Boğazı’na gelmeden çoğunlukla 656-1640 FTyükseklikte bulunurlar.Özellikle sabah saatleri 08:00-11:00arasında kuşlar 656 FT altında uçarlar. Türlerin çoğunuleylek, kalanını da başta Küçük Orman Kartalı, Arı Şahini,Şahin, Yaz Atmacası, Kara Leylek, Ak Pelikan ve YılanKartalı oluşturmaktadır. Bu Kuşların ağırlıkları 150 gr ve10 kg arasında değişmektedir. Yapılan sayımlarda eldeedilen en yüksek toplam, ilkbaharda 70.000, sonbaharda220.000 olmuştur.

Periods of migration: Migration is in March, April, May,June, August, September, October. Periods of migrationin April and September is the most dense because ofintercontinental migration Peak Time: BTN 08:00-11:00(LMT) and 14:00-17:00 (LMT) 6 or 7 flocks (consistingof 300 to 2000 birds) are observed over the aerodrome.In spring , the birds fly at 656FT-1646FT height beforereaching Belen. Especially, between 08:00-11:00 (LMT),birds fly under 656 FT. Most of the birds are storks, therest are spotted eagle, honey buzzard, Sparrow HawkSummer, black stork, white pelican, short-toed eagle.The weight of these birds is between 150 g and 10kg.The highest amount in spring is 70.000 and 220.000autumn.

Alandan geçen kuş sayısının ise 500.000 ila 1.000.000olduğu tahmin edilmektedir. Kuşların en yoğun geçtikleridönemler ilkbaharda Mart başından Nisan ayının sonunakadar, sonbaharda ise biri Ağustosun ikinci yarısı, diğeriEylülün ikinci yarısı ve Ekim başını alan iki dönemdir.Kuşlar sabah saatlerinde daha alçaktan uçmakta, öğle veöğleden sonra yüksekten geçmektedir. Ortalama uçuşyüksekliği 3937-6561 FT civarındadır. Göç yağmurda,kapalı havalarda ve güçlü rüzgarda azalır ve hatta durmanoktasına gelir.

The amount of birds flying over the area is between500.000 and 1.000.000. There are two periods in whichthe bird pass intensively. First period starts at thebeginning of March and lasts until the end of April,Second period is in Autumn between the second part ofSeptember and first part of October. The birds fly low inthe morning and high in the afternoon. The averageflight height is 3937 FT, but some bird species climb6561 FT. Easily in good conditions. Migration decreasesduring rain and almost finishes in bad and windyweather.

Bu göç yoluİstanbul-Hatay-İsrail arasında uzanmakta olup her yıl ikikere yaklaşık 500.000 civarında süzülen göçmen kuştarafından kullanılmaktadır. Bu kuşların % 85ini 3,5 kglikbir ağırlığa sahip ve sürüler halinde geçen leylekleroluşturmaktadır. İlkbahar’da güneyden kuzeye, AmikOvasında beslenerek, oradan Belen Geçidi ve AkıncıBurnu’ndan geçerler. Sonbaharda Kuzeybatı’dan gelir,Hatay’dan güneye inerler. Bir kısmı Adana Yumurtalık’tanİskenderun Körfezi’ni uçarak aşar ve Amanos Dağlarınıngüneyinden kıyıdan takip ederler. Uçaklar 6561 FT. altınaindiklerinde kuş ile çarpışma tehlikesi altındadır.

Migration Ways and Routes: Airport is on the easternMediterranean cross-continental bird migration way.This way lies among İstanbul-Hatay-Israel and is usedby almost 500.000 migratory soary birds twice in a year.The 85 percent of these birds are storks with 3.5 kgweight. In spring, the birds fly from South to North, feedin plain Amik and from there go through Belen Strait andAkıncı Headland. In Autumn, the birds come fromNorthwest and go to South over Hatay. Some of themfly over Yumurtalık, Adana to Iskenderun Gulf. Theothers follow over the mount Amanos. When theaircrafts fly under 6561 FT, they might be under dangerof collision.
