Dear Friends: Anyone who has made a New Year’s

resolution knows the change in the calendar is not magic. It is no guarantee that we will eat less, exercise more, or somehow become a better person. But it does remind us that if we hope to arrive at somewhere new, we at least need to get started. So where do you want to go that you haven’t already been? It’s a good question for each of us. It’s a critical question for First Presbyterian Church.

A great effort will be made this year to helpourchurchdefinewherewewanttogothatwehaven’tyetbeen.We’lltrytonamethe“new”thingandfigureouthowtowalkinthatdirection. A great way to be a part of that effort is to try and do the same thing for yourself. Is God nudging you in new directions? What’s yourunfinishedbusinessasyoubeginanewyear?Howwillyouwalkin that direction?

This booklet can help. It contains opportunity after opportunity to think a new thought, pick up a new practice, and get some tools to helpyoubemorethepersonGodiscallingyoutobe.Youwon’tfindeverythinginheretobeuseful, butI’msureyouwillfindsomethingin here to be helpful. So before you fall into the well-worn ruts of a familiar life, read through this booklet, and make a commitment to do something new. Walk a little further down the road of Christian discipleship. Please don’t hesitate to call on the pastors of the church to help as you continue to walk in the way of Jesus Christ.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Mike Garrett, Pastor

Snack Ministry Children’s Ministry offers our Snack Kit Ministry to twelve students at Teresa Berrien El-ementary during the school year. Once a month the elementary children and parents from our ministry package snack food items in gallon-size resealable bags for children to take home each weekend. The cost per child for a year is $160 ($16 a month for the school year). We are excited that our ministry is making a difference in the lives of children from “food insecure” homes at a local elementary school. These children were selected for the program by the school’s social worker. we accept donations any time of the year. Monetary donations are greatly appreciat-ed. Other donations include gallon-size resealable bags, applesauce, juice boxes, canned chicken noodle soup, and canned Chef Boyardee.
