    ABOUT THE BOARDThe Des Plaines Park District Board of Commissioners is comprised of five elected individuals, each serving a six-year term. The board is responsible for the development of Park District policies, long range planning, and monthly review of Park District Financial and Operations Reports.

    Board meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, at 7:00pm in the David L. Markworth Boardroom at the Administrative & Leisure Center. All are welcome, and you are encouraged to attend these public meetings.

    Winter is Wonderful!Fresh snow on the sled hill, hot cocoa with friends, lighted trees, and the gift of a new year! Theres so much to do lets get started!

    Ski and snowboard trips for all ages. Weekends in the north woods are just 17 pages away.

    Kids of all ages can come with us on exciting day trips, or stay and play at the Leisure Center. Either way, everyone has a great time! Complete details for these popular School Day Off programs is on page 18.

    Fun for kids and families! Free entertainment, free pictures with Santa! Roasted chestnuts to keep you warm. Delicious food, crafts for kids,walk-around characters, and so much more that two days is hardly enough!December 3 & 4 at the Frisbie Center. The fun starts on page 16.

    On behalf of the Board of Commissioners of the Des Plaines Park District I invite you to review the information that is included in this seasons edition of the Spectrum. I hope you will find a program, activity or special event that interests you or a member of your family.
