Owing to its’ English influence, today Barbados is called “Little England in the Caribbean”. Nevertheless the locals have given their own special twist to British traditions by adapting them with their Caribbean pace of life! THE CENTERThe Club Mistral/Skyriders Center is located on the beach of Silver Sands in the premises of the Silver Sand Resort, only a stones throw away from the water. This place invites you to relax and offers a magnificent view over the whole spot. Together with Gran Canaria, Club Mistral Barbados is our oldest center (since 1985) and was also the first Skyriders Center. The beach is truly beautiful, and crystal clear waters with temperatures of 27°C all year long make you forget the rest of the world immediately.

THE SPOT ON BARBADOSThere are no limits to your surfing creativity here, with perfect conditions for both classic wave riding and for new moves such as the push loop and the air jibe. A 1-2 meters deep reef 250 meters off of the shore creates a clean wave for riding downwind. Barbados has long been a renowned windsurfing spot and during the last couple of years it has also become a popular spot for kitesurfers. Barbados offers ideal conditions for wave novi-ces and ambitious surfers, wind- and kitesurfers. However, on most days the spot is unsuitable for windsurfing beginners or slalom riders. Therefore, we can only offer private windsurfing lessons with water start as a minimum requirement. Kite tuition is held on the neighbouring beach in Silver Rock – a spot suitable for all levels. With its numerous different spots, Barbados is also a perfect travel destination for surfers.

WIND AND WAVESThe wind varies between a constant cross-offshore or cross-onshore trade wind, which usually levels off between 4-5 beaufort. The best wind period is between December and March. Silver Sands is one of the best wave spots.

SILVER SANDS RESORT I Located at the southern tip of the island, right at the beach and next to our Club Mistral Center. The capital Bridgetown is only 30 min away (shuttle bus available subject to fee).Hotel facilities & rooms: The Silver Sands Resort is set amidst a wide garden covering an area of 12 ha. The main building houses the recep-tion and lobby area. You can dine à la carte or have a snack in the two restaurants. The beach bar is open from 9:00am to midnight. The resort offers a large pool with separate kids pool, a grand sun terraces, two asphalt tennis courts as well as a mini market and souvenir shop. Evening entertainment is provided several times a week. The double rooms are remodeled and attractively appointed with bath, air conditioning, radio, cable TV (for a fee), phone and balcony or terrace overlooking the sea or garden. The garden studios are equally designed, but also feature a fully equipped kitchenette. The large balcony overlooks the garden. The oceanfront studios have free view on the water. The suites offer the same appointments as the studios but are more spacious with separate bedroom and thus extremely suitable for families. The gar-den suites are overlooking the garden, whilst the deluxe beachfront suites have direct beach access and ocean view.Board basis: All units are available as self-catering accommodation. Breakfast or all inclusive can be added separately.Our opinion: Middle class hotel popular for its great location right at the windsurf spot.

CORAL HOUSE I These apartments are approx. 50 m from the beach and 300 m from the Club Mistral/Skyriders Center Silver Sands, surrounded by a huge garden.Facilities & apartments: The apartments are simply appointed. The two story building, comprising of ten spacious apartments is surrounded by shadowy trees. All apartments have identical space and consist of a large living/dining area, one separate bedroom with twin beds, a kitchenette, bathroom, ceiling fan and balcony. Maid service is twice a week with change of linens.Board basis: Apartments are self-catering. The Coral House has its own beach bar style restaurant and bar, called Mike's, serving daily "all you can eat" buffet dinners at a good price. Don't miss the daily Happy hour between 05:00 and 07:00 pm.Our opinion: Spacious but very simple apartments with great views.
