“Willing to be a sacrifice”:

ISAAC AND JESUS on MT MORIAH

Page 2: Willing to be a sacrifice

Abraham and Isaac

Page 3: Willing to be a sacrifice

Isaac was the son of PROMISE

- He had to wait a long time for Isaac to be born, and all God’s

promises for the MESSIAH hinged on

him being alive.

Page 4: Willing to be a sacrifice

Abraham LOVED Isaac- now a young

man 25-35

Page 5: Willing to be a sacrifice

Told to take Isaac up onto Mt Moriah and

offer him as a BURNT sacrifice. Understand: God never intended

Isaac to DIE.

Page 6: Willing to be a sacrifice

God was TESTING Abraham to see if he

really loved God most. (Gen 22:1) This was not his first test,

but was the TOUGHEST!

Page 7: Willing to be a sacrifice

Abraham did not object or question or hesitate or whine. He

OBEYED God, because he TRUSTED

God

could have resisted.

Page 17: Willing to be a sacrifice

Abraham considered his son “as DEAD” for

3 days, but he believed God’s could raise him from the dead if necessary (Heb. 11:19) He passed the test

Page 18: Willing to be a sacrifice

When Abraham raised the knife (22:10) the

Angel of the Lord STOPPED him and provided a RAM

(22:13) as a substitute- to die and

shed its blood.

Page 19: Willing to be a sacrifice

The ram was caught in a thicket of

THORNS.

Page 20: Willing to be a sacrifice

Isaac escaped death.

Page 21: Willing to be a sacrifice

Abraham called the place Jehovah-Jireh-

(The Lord will provide). God saw his

need and provided the ram.

He rose from the dead on the third day in victory over death.

Page 33: Willing to be a sacrifice

God has painted a picture of our

Messiah-Savior in the story of the offering of Isaac. It is a prophecy

of the supreme sacrifice which was

given for all mankind.

Page 34: Willing to be a sacrifice

Messiah Jesus was willing to suffer, bleed and die for you and

me today.

Page 35: Willing to be a sacrifice

God calls on his followers to be

TOTALLY DEDICATED to Him.

Romans 12:1-2

Page 36: Willing to be a sacrifice

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

Page 37: Willing to be a sacrifice

2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Page 38: Willing to be a sacrifice

Don’t be CONFORMED to this world. Be SET

APART- HOLY,

Page 39: Willing to be a sacrifice

Be TRANSFORMED by the renewing of your mind- changed from

the inside out.
