Obituary On June 14, 1932, the world was blessed with the birth of Willie Lee “Tom” Anthony. He was the first born of three children to the late Annie Pearl Adkins and Elbert Anthony. He confessed Christ early in life at New Style United Methodist Church where he served faithfully until his death. Willie united in marriage with Annie Ruth Goodwin. This union was blessed with three children, Gloria, Vickie, and Tony. Willie loved his family and was an avid hunter and baseball fan. Willie served his country during the Korean War and served in the Ala-bama National Guard for 20 years. During Willie’s early adult years he worked with General Motors and Buick in Flint, Michigan before returning to Alabama where he was employed with Wilbanks Tire Company for several years. He retired from full time employment in 1993 after a 27-year career with the Vet-erans Administration Regional Office in Montgomery, Alabama. Willie was also a Past Worshipful Master of Hill City Lodge No. 21. He de-parted this life on July 25, 2017. Willie leaves to cherish his memories a very loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Mrs. Annie Ruth Goodwin Anthony; one son, Tony Anthony of Wetumpka, Alabama; two daughters, Gloria Harris and Vickie (Edwin) Lane, both of Wetumpka, Alabama; four grandchildren, Anto-nio Winston, of Valley, Alabama, Franchesca Harris, of Montgomery, Alabama, Eric Winston and JaCorey Anthony, both of Wetumpka, Ala-bama; three great-grandchildren, Da’Marion, Ja’Darion and Eri’Aunna; one sister, Jessie P. Freeman, of Wetumpka, Alabama; three brothers-in-law, Leroy (Jeanette) Goodwin, of Cleveland, Ohio, Rev. Tommie (Hattie) Goodwin and Molton Goodwin, of Montgomery, Alabama; three sisters-in-law, C Ellen Mathews and Jennie (Melvin) Gaines, both of Wetumpka, Alabama, and Estoria (Fred) Blanchett, of Cleveland, Ohio; a special former son-in-law, Ed Harris; a special former daughter-in-law, LaShawn Anthony; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Albert Anthony and James “Ed Banks” Anthony.

I'M FREE

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free

I’m following the path God has laid you see.

I took His hand when I heard him call

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day

To laugh, to love, to work, to play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way

I found that peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void

Then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss

Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life’s been full, I savored much

Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief

Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your hearts and peace to thee

God wanted me now; He set me free.

A FATHER

A light is from our household gone, A voice we loved is stilled,

A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled.

God gave us a beautiful father, A father who never grew old,

You were always there With a helping hand,

Help us now to accept His plan. We miss you now, our hearts are sore,

As time goes by, we miss you more. Your loving smile, your gentle face,

No one can take our "Father's Place" May the choirs of the angels receive you

and may you have rest and peace everlasting. Amen.

We love you daddy, Gloria, Vickie, Tony

GRANDADDY

The love we have for Grandaddy

Will never fade away. We’ll think of him, our special

friend Throughout each passing day.

We’ll walk into the room And see his empty chair;

Although we know he’s resting, We’ll feel his presence there. The memories of his laughter, His warm and loving smile,

His eyes so full of happiness, His heart that of a child.

Memories are forever Be they laughter or of tears, Memories we will treasure

Through all the forthcoming years.

The Grandchildren, Antonio, Eric, Fran, JaCorey

GOD SAW YOU GETTING TIRED

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be

So he put his arms around you and whispered “Come With Me.”

With tearful eyes I watched you, slowly fade away,

Although I loved you dearly, I would not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest.

God broke my heart to prove to me,

He only takes the best.

Love, Ann

RECESSIONAL

A FALLEN LIMB

A limb has fallen from the family tree.

I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me.

Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.

The good life I lived while I was strong.

Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.

Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.

My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.

Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.

Continue traditions, no matter how small.

Go on with your life, don't worry about falls

I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.

Until the day comes we're together again.”
