1.1 PRIMARY PROBING The wifi material does not work from any unit

1.1.1 MP620/980 - Reset network settings- Choose the Connection mode from the device menu

1.1.1.1 RESET NETWORK SETTINGS 1. Make sure the device has power.

2. Select Settings on the HOME screen, then click OK.The Settings window shows up.

3. Select Device Settings, then click OK.4. Select Network Settings, then click OK.5. Select Reset Network Setting, then click OK.6. Select Yes, then click on OK.

1.1.1.2 CHOOSE THE NETWORK CONNECTION TYPE.

1. Make sure the device has power.

2. Select Setting on the HOME screen and press the OK button.The Setting screen shows up.

3. Select Device Settings, then click OK.4. Select Network Settings, then click OK.5. Select Reset Network Setting, then click OK.6. Select Yes, then click on OK.

7. Select Change WIFI/Wired, then click on OK.

1.2 INSTALLING WIFI FROM THE CD-ROM (EXAMPLE) - Insert the provided CD-ROM in the DriveCheck the CD-ROM compatibility with Windows Vista (example first versions of iP5200R/MP600R)

- Select the region- Click on Next

- Choose Easy Install for the first installation (it installs all drivers and softwares)OR- Choose Custom install for the wifi basic components

- Select only the required basic elements- Click on Next

- Read the License agreement- Click on Yes

- This message can appear with MP620/980- Click on OK

- Connect the USB cable to the computer

Windows VistaAfter connecting the USB cable, if the Windows Installation wizard, manually choose the driver’s folder ‘C:\Windows\inf’ as follow :

- Select "Search for an existing driver on my computer"- Click on "Next >"

- Enter "C:\windows\inf" in the text box- Click on "Next >"- Finish updating the driver(the driver should have installed)

- Progress bar after connecting the device via USB

- Successful USB connection between the device and the computer.- The network should be enabled on the computer

- Click on Next- Information message (can be closed)

Windows XPAfter connecting the USB cable, if the Windows Installation wizard, manually choose the driver’s folder ‘C:\Windows\inf’ as follow :

- Select "Not this time" if the wizard offers to connect to Windows Update- Click on « Next >"

- Select "Install from a list or a specific location (eperienced users)- Click on « Next >"

- Select "Search for a better driver in the following locations"- Select only "Include this location in the search"- Enter the path to the folder "C:\Windows\inf" or use the Browse option... (Becarefull the inf folder is a hidden folder)- Click on "Next >"- Finish updating the driver(the driver should have installed)

Becarefull with Antivirus/Firewalls especially from this moment on

- Checking the printer is present

- Checking available access points

- Select in the list the access point to be used.

- Check that the selected encryption mode matches the key or password type. - Enter the WEP key or WPA password

- Click on connect

Becarefull, some access points require a button to be pressed to authorize adding new material on the network( For instance in France with the “Livebox”).-> See appendix for more detailsFor more information, refer to the access point documentation.

Encryption

WEP 64bits (10 digits key (hex) ; example : C9 42 28 B8 AE)WEP 128bits (26 digits key (hex))

WPA/WPA2 (password of between 8 and 63 characters)- Choose TKIP or AES

Warning, a bad WIFI connection quality can bring issues mainly during scanning. Scanning involves an important data transfer!

Becarefull if the printer is connected via USB, choose the right printer mode.Check the ‘Port’ tab on the printer - USB for USB connection- BJNP Port for network connection
