WHY YOU SHOULDBE EXCITEDIf you’ve been paying aenon, you may have noced that we have been releasing a new version of QuickMAR CareSuite about every three months, much more frequently than in the past. Because it is happening more oen, you may have unintenonally missed some of the important changes we’ve made. For example, in our previous release we added Lab Tracking, which gives you the ability to schedule labs, be reminded when they are coming due, track that they have occurred, and then log the results if desired.

That release also contained a new concept called Flexible Schedules that helps you beer handle infrequent meds, like once-yearly or once-monthly orders.

Those are both features that have been available for a few months now.

WHAT’S NEXTVersion 4.4 is now available, and it is loaded with some fantasc features that will help you take beer care of your residents and ensure that Care Comes First.

WOUND TRACKING We all know the importance of wound prevenon and wound care. First and foremost, it affects the health of the resident. Secondarily, a wound means you might have to discharge the resident if the wound does not heal.

The new Wound Tracking Module helps you take beer care of your residents and keeps them in your facility. This module lets you do the following:

• Log that a wound exists, nong the wound type, locaon, suspected cause and when it was first discovered.

• Create a care plan for that wound, consisng of various treatments or meds which will appear in your regular med or treatment pass.

WOUND TRACKING (CON’T)• Record assessments of the wound, using the built-in wound assessment, or by aaching an external wound assessment document.

• View the progress of the wound as it progresses through the healing stage to the point at which it is resolved.

• See in a Dashboard all the acve wounds in your facility and their status.

This is a great tool for caring for the wound, as well as for documenng your efforts for those that need to know. Using the feature is good for your residents and good for your business.

INTAKE/OUTPUT TRACKINGIt is very common in acute care sengs for the caregivers to track all the intake and output for a resident. This is less common in senior care sengs, but there are mes when it can be very helpful. Consider the resident who is:

• Regularly dehydrated, and staff has been asked to encourage fluid consumpon.

• Losing weight, and the staff has been asked to track meal consumpon.

• Having bowel or bladder issues and staff is asked to track those events.

With the new Intake/Output module, it becomes very easy for you to track this informaon. With just a few clicks, you can record how much fluid was consumed during your shi, or how much of a meal was consumed at dinner. Output also is tracked with just a few mouse-clicks.

Then, you can view the I/O tab for the resident and get a good historical view of all the I/O acvity. This allows you to then take acon in offering beer care for the resident.

CALENDARINGHave you ever forgoen to get a resident ready for an appointment? The family shows up, or the transportaon van arrives, and the resident is sll in pajamas or in the dining room eang? This has happened to all of us who have been in the industry for any length

of me. With the new Calendaring feature, that will be a thing of the past.

Here is what Calendaring will do for you.

• Get a full view of all resident appointments for the day, week or month.

• Create tasks associated with the appointment, which will appear in the med pass, reminding you to complete that task before the appointment. An example might be a task to help the resident brush their teeth aer lunch before their denst appointment.

• Create a note to appear in the med pass for that resident. This appears as a banner at the top of the med pass for that resident, with a message, such as, “Remind James of his lunch appt with his daughter, and to not eat lunch at the facility.”

You can see how Calendaring will benefit your facility. This is a feature that almost every one of our facilies can use.

WHAT’S NEXT? We sll have some ambious plans for connuing to improve our products. If you have suggesons or opinions, please send them to us at [email protected].

This release is an oponal release, meaning that we won’t mandate this update to our users. But if you check the About/Check for Upgrades opon from the menu, you’ll be able to get this version. You can also go to our Knowledge Base at www.quickmar.com/support to learn more about these features.

About CareSuite by QuickMAR

In 2003, co-founder and president, Stan Turner, developed soware to improve medicaon passes at his facilies. Knowing that some caregivers have lile technology experience, he designed the soware to be easily used by staff with limited computer skills. He also worked with pharmacies over the years to ensure that the soware would integrate effortlessly into their operaons. The soware enabled efficiency and accuracy of the med pass. It also enabled caregivers to dedicate more me and aenon to those in their care, while greatly increasing the safety of medicaon administraon.

In 2007, Stan brought together a talented team of professionals to help him establish QuickMAR. Their vision: improve medicaon accuracy and enhance resident safety by commercializing the product and making it available to the whole industry.

The CareSuite technology rapidly evolved into a leading product that encompasses a range of soluons for long-term care providers and pharmacies, with delighted clients from coast to coast. Each member of the team shares a passionate belief in the importance of quality care for seniors; a passion which guides all their efforts.

Stan inmately understands the operaons, needs and goals of senior care providers and pharmacies. He has more than a decade of experience as an execuve director, regional execuve and co-owner of an assisted living company. It was while serving in that capacity that he developed the electronic medical administraon applicaon that served as the basis for today’s robust CareSuite by QuickMAR soware. His goal has always been to provide easy-to-use technology that enables senior living providers and pharmacies to improve efficiencies so they can focus on the people they serve.

Prior to entering the senior living industry, Stan served as a business and technology consultant for Deloie Consulng, where his clients included General Motors, John Deere, Mutual of New York, and Pacific Bell. He previously worked in the aerospace industry, developing and implemenng new technologies for General Dynamics. He received an MBA from the University of Notre Dame, where he finished at the top of his class, and a Bachelor of Science in engineering from Brigham Young University.

“As a senior care execuve myself, I am passionate about providing the industry with easy-to-use technology that truly meets daily needs and furthers our shared goal of outstanding care for older people.”
