• It is a better value proposition for the customer– More convenient to purchase

because customer can do at his/her leisure and not at last minute on platform or on-board bus stop (TVM in your hand)

– Opportunity to obtain combination tickets that are credentials for transit, parking and event admission

– Useful functionality within the App itself by addition of trip planning, travel announcements, introduce events and offers

• DART has confirmed there is broad customer and commercial support for payment and ticket delivery via mobile device

The DART View about Mobile Payment and Ticketing

• Mobile payment and ticketing should not be considered an interim step to Open Payments, rather, it is the other way around

• Barcodes and NFC are simply different ways to present valid credential when making payment or providing proof of payment, both can work

• But mobile only will address 40-50% of the customer base so it is only part of the total payment solution
