Why is PDHPE Important for Primary

School Education?

Personal development, health and physical education is a necessity as

indicated by the NSW Board of Studies, the syllabus which is based on the

“notion of health that encompasses all aspects of an individuals wellbeing,

inclusive of social, mental, physical and spiritual health” (Board of Studies k-6

Syllabus 2006 pg.5)

Personal DevelopmentPersonal development encourages the development of relevant knowledge, skill and values beneficial in making informed decisions in their lives and the understanding oneself and others.

HealthIs important to ensure children can make active lifestyle decisions and decipher wrong and right in context to their body.

Physical EducationIs important to promote physical activity and involvement for an active lifestyle.
