There were clear evidence that Puduwei was abducted. He was the Art and Cultural
leader. We must forced the government, least they should revel Puduwei was alive or
not. Puduwei was a giant with the capacity of his poetry. The Sri Lankan poetry will not
be exist without Puduwei .
At least we, poets should be the pioneers to made this statement. I'll be the first to
sign without any hesitation.
I wrote my fellow friendly poets about Puduwei .with the examples , I let them feel
how much Puduwei, the official poet of LTTE, loved his motherland. But I didn't
understand the reason, why my friends didn't reply me.
According to the statement given by Jayawathi, the wife of Yogarathnam, in the LLRC
commission, it was clear the poet Puduwei Rathnathurai was among the LTTE
leaders who were captured by Sri Lankan Army in wattuwahal.
It was the May 18 th 2009, including my husband Yogi, Lawrenc Thilakar, Baby
Subramaniam, and many more , were loaded to a bus and taken away. Until now
there is no any information abut them,
The last time I saw Puduwei ,he was advising a group of cultural activists, appeared to
be an informal meeting. While letting my self rested upon a pillar in a corner of that
small hall, I watched him. He saw me while addressing the meeting. The next moment,
addressing my name, he came and hug me. I felt I was destitute by his humbleness. I
said we could talk after your activity. The humorous look on his face in that moment,
still kindle my mind. I honor him for being sensitive person, a political poet who took
the leadership on artistic and cultural expedient and also how he attune with
Liberation action. Since I tried to give a true meaning to the real patriotism of people
like Puduwei, I was subjected to detestation by so-called patriotic . Because of this
reason ,We are not Sri Lankans any more. It's being three years since Puduwei,

the cultural patriot was abducted by the so-called non-cultural Sri Lankans. The tribal
characteristic of us could be the reason we don't the Puduwei emblem in any of
cultural events nowadays?
Once Puduwei expressed himself.......

Puduwei rathnathurai was a communist who deal with the Sinhalese society, and amember in communist party. Later he joined the chines group of the communist party,
led by Shanmugadhasan. Once Rohana Wijeweera was a member in this group.
I was a member of both the Communist party of Sri Lanka and its chines group. The
reason I left the Southern Left was the pressure mounted on Tamil people and on
there neutral reactions. I raised my voice wherever its being needed for the people in
gehenna. I was the pioneer to made up a a poet for the 1971 J.V.P. Riot.
1971 was a critical year for Sri Lanka.... The year marked a people revolution... the
poet says... It may be wrong. But I dreamed of a revolution working class in this
country. The poet
Puduwei rathnethurai, who raised his voice continuously against the social pressure,
had a necessity to resist against Sinhalese who griped his fellow Tamils.
This will be an extended abstract of what Puduwei said ten years before,to the so-
called Sri Lankan society that strained Tamils.
When I was a member of the Communist Party, I said I was a Sri Lankan. Then the
Sinhalese mass racialism said, No, you are not a Sri Lankan but a Tamil. I said

again and again ,I'm not a Tamil but a Sri Lankan. But gain they said , You are a
Tamil. After words, I introduced myself ,Yes , I'm a Tamil. Then they said No, you
are not a Tamil but a Sri Lankan. I was delighted. We are back were we started.
Twenty years after all these suspicious, after splitting the penetration between
communal, we are back in the beginning. Now we all are Sri Lankans,
But a decade was passed, Puduwei ,the versifier was abducted by the Sinhalese
community who called themselves themselves the Sri Lankans. Since the abduction
was tolerated, it was generalization with a silent .He was a versifier, yet a Tamil Tiger.
Make comments openly against an abduction of Tamil Tiger and catechising weather
he is alive or not, is more dangerous than organizing a Public broil. The crime made usto leave the motherland , was only publicly interrogate these abductions.
The first time I met Puduwei was on October 2002 in the Weerasingham Hall in
Jaffna. The event was named,the Tamil assembly of humanity and fair number of
people were invited from Southern part of country. A group of us participated this
event on behalf of Rawaya,
a newspaper intervene effectively and played a significant role in Sri Lankan ethnic
problem.
Wimalanath Weerarathna, Chaaminda Nagodawithana, Thilak Kodhagoda,
Thambirasa Nadarasa, Saman C. Liyanage, and myself was among this group. On the
last day, there was a conference for mass media. The explanation concerning
Sinhalese mass-media was done by Rohitha Bhashana Abeywardana who
represented Hiru news paper and I, myself or Rawaya news paper. We analyzed our
blundering conscience per procurationem of Tamil community.
The cinematography conference was addressed by Professor Sunil Ariyarathna and
literature by Maduklugiriya Wijerathna.. I met Puduwei several times in these
conferences and invited him for a dialogue for the Rawaya news paper. The
introduction for that dialogue was linked with the memories how I invited Puduwei.....

We fixed a time to meet. My self and my Rawaya colleagues were on time. We met
Puduwei at the office room in the Weerasingham Hall in Jaffna. He was emotional.
We felt his emotions. We felt Both our hear beats were same..... Then it was the
time to say good-bye.
Puduwei strongly hold our hands and we felt his cosiness. This is not an interview,
but two hearts became one, was his last words at the time we depart.
While quest an accession to start up the dialogue, I demanded The LTTE cultural
leader, an analysis of culture with the focus of Tamil Nationality.
The essence of culture analyzed with the human activities and behavioral in a certainclime.
There will be a transformation in culture with the abreast of the time. Nobody can
proclaim solidly, that we got a cultural history well over two thousand years. It's a
necessity for each and every citizen to be parallel with the change of universe. It's the
same with our culture too. But we are not obligated to accept the forceful purport ,
which led to the war. The destruction of our entire lifeblood, defacement of our cultural
elements ,was the cause of inauguration the war. Being Tamils and not allowed to
protect our race and origin, made the Tamil society stands for armed action. This is
why we describe, the war was forcefully loaded upon us. Isn't it great that after
twenty years of war, we still manage to secure our cultural uniqueness and behaviors.
It was good applicable opportunity for the efflux of the dialogue. I athirst to light up his
conscience.
The characteristic of social relationships will be changed due to an armed action. So,
what based on you to say your cultural life is protected?it was a huge transformation
among the Tamil culture, isn't it?

Protecting the cultural and civil elements during the war, is no the solely responsibility
of LTTE , but also the responsibility of ecumenical Tamil society. The war destroyed
everything
and only the war was prioritized. The war destroyed the life,religious and intellectual
elements.
Destruction is same for all, educational, artistic, agricultural, and professional life. The
destruction gain ground with war. The culture will be the first element to be
disappeared with this destructive war.
But during this war, we manage to safeguard our culture up to the full and its a fact
confided by many people. I will give you an example. There were many displacementsbecause of the uncertainty of the life, was scaled well over 5-%. Some of them
migrate to European countries, Canada and India. Some of then migrate internally to
either Colombo, Anuradhapura, Trincomalee or Vanni. I'm delighted caused non of
them destroyed neither origins nor their elements and our organization is the key
factor for that.
In the history of revolution, the art and culture got more potentials for social cognition. I
asked Puduwei, what was the role plaid by the art and culture, in this conflict of Tamil
liberation.
But that was ten years ago and almost seven years before Puduwei was abducted.
There was true physical suffering among Tamil Society. Puduwei's peaceful eyes
lighted with a hope of independence.
The are and literature reflect the society of that particular era. But the art or literature
was related on any war. What was the sensitivity of that epoch? How the dialogues
were managed among the connoisseurs and what were the creations with war
themed? If we were forced to faced the war, obviously the creations will be themed on
war. It's the nature of creativity. Sola and Pallawa was two era in Tamil history. The

creations in Sola era themed based on war and the Pallawa era themed on religion.
Once, Sri Lanka is our motherland is the theme of our poets and was never
mentioned abut any war. Subsequently it changed to, Sri Lanka must not be
apportion. These rights were confiscate from us and the war forced upon us . That
changed the theme of creativity towards the war. There is a gesture for peace now. In
this definite point, our formation based on peace. The creations we do, based on the
epoch. If there were no Russian revolution, then there won't be a revolutionary
literature in Russia. It's the same in China. It's a very important fact that the origin of
literature, always parallel with on going situation.
The sharp revolutionary voice of Puduwei ,adverted me another question,Still , are
you a communist? I asked Puduwei ,who was under the category, The great terrorist
poet in the fiction vision of Sinhalese. After ten years, I still remember how his face
lighted with mirth. It was a clear and definite answer.
Yes, without any doubt , I'm still a communist
Reading what Puduwei said ten years before, may not really be necessary for the
new revolutionist who attempting to form a new culture of politics and thinking they
discovered a new version of liberalism in Sri Lanka but yet sympathy for them.
This is the process of exploitation on equivalent countries, initiated by the focal
economical countries. The globalization recasting the world in a new method and new
circle. The real impact and the danger, is upon our developing countries. We won't
have a ground in our countries. Yet we are incapable of bonding to peal against this
matter. After the collapse of Soviet Russia, no hefty force created against America
and the rest of the capitalized countries. Many socialist countries having there internal
issues, interrupted the ability of peal against capitalism. Cause of the internal issues in

Sri Lanka, we are not yet united to pealed as a country. In another words, the
developing Indian Subcontinent is in a great danger.
Erasing the elements of the history of Liberation Tigers , was the dream of many
personal, but never managed thou. That was our strength. We never asked for the war
but forcefully put on us. With the close attention of each and every Hero's Day speech
reports, will prove the effort for the peace by our leaders. Even-thou he speak about
peace, Prabhakaran was interpreted as a war hungry leader by many people. But non
of these people understand him properly. Now there is a good chance for the peace.
We take this opportunity to show our feelings,not only to the Sinhalese people , but
also to the whole world. We use the cultural section for the same necessity. Neithercheating nor fabrication. We love the peace from the bottom of our heart and endeavor
to bring it out with our creations. We need to explain our true feelings to Sinhalese
society and made a concrete bond with Sinhalese community. This is a fact beyond
the politicians. The artists, avant-grade, and the mass-media should be usher in ,
and its happy to see that kind of people in South.
These are my last words. We were destroyed by fighting among ourselves. The
results of not given our proper rights by Sinhalese politicians, channeled us on fire
arms. India use this war between our two nations for an opportunity to interfere this
internal matter. They didn't come to destroy the LTTE but aggression Sri Lanka. We
fought and refer back Indian forces inside the territory of North and East without
making any burden on Sinhalese community. But cause of the appeal of President
Premadasa, the Indian army stayed but after the battle with LTTE had to leave Sri
Lanka. In general, we saved Sri Lanka from aggression. If the war appears again, it
would be a disaster for Sri Lanka. Many onlookers waiting to meddle with Sri Lanka. In
future, there might be an opportunity, both Sinhalese and Tamils combined together to
fight against these meddling sources. We must stop this war and be united for this
forthcoming circumstance. We only asking the same equal rights possess by

I cogitate him, filing the history and compose poems of him, every now and then. But
still impossible to get over with my guiltiness Sinhalese conscience. I asked him the
definition of the poet, and my psyche still agitated with pain by the persiflage smile
popped upon his face. Through these oppressive conceptions, His perspicuous voice
still peal on me.
Once a poet named Puduwei Rathnathurai was lived in our history. That's it. He
never calmed neither commanding position nor throne for the sake of being a poet.
He was a part of this society, yet was the living voice of current epoch. Apart of that,nobody can stand as a poet in society except a lunatic.
At the end of my document,I ,again approach the binging, to blossom new concepts in
the hearts of my friendly poets.
