Serving our neighbour through localchurches is the core activity of the

Diakonia Council of Churches.

Only once we understand andaccept the depth of this question can

we really respond to the call toserve our neighbour – and allow

them to serve us. 5

When asked which commandment was the first ofall, Jesus quoted the ancient law from the OldTestament: “You shall love the Lord your God ....You shall love your neighbour as yourself. Thereis no other commandment greater than these”Mark 12:29/31
