Minutes from GM on 4/22/2010 The General meeting of the Whitestone PTA was called to order on April 22, 2010, at

6:07pm in the Whitestone Multiple Purpose Room by President Yvonne Cole, the Secretary Kristen Miller being present. A quorum was established.

The current Executive Board members were introduced by President Yvonne Cole. The minutes of the General meeting dated February 11, 2010, were read and

approved. Treasurer Heather Bendle presented the Treasurer's report and it was filed for

audit. Yvonne presented the Nominating Committee's report. The following positions were

nominated: Dana Trinkle - President Yvonne Cole - 1st Vice President Priscilla Hanson - Vice President of Events Misty Geitz - Vice President of Membership Cory Davis - Vice President of Fund Raising Jenn Haynes - Vice President of Programs Vanessa Vidaurri - Vice President of Publicity Heather Bendle - Treasurer Liz Ali - Secretary

Kristen Miller motioned to approve the 2010-2011 Whitestone PTA Executive Board members. The motion was seconded by Tina Dunbar and carried.

Vice President of Fund Raising Cory Davis presented information about the PTA's Spring Fundraiser, the Whitestone FUNd Run and Healthy Family Expo. It will take place on Saturday, May 8 from 9:00am-1:00 pm at the Leander Middle School track facility.

Minutes from GM on 4/22/2010 Vice President of Membership Priscilla Hanson presented the PTA Spring Calendar:

May 3-7 - Teacher Appreciation May 4 & 5 - Carnation Sales May 5 - Potluck Salad Bar May 7 - Restock your Teacher's Closet May 7 - Field Day (PTA to provide popsicles) May 8 - FUNd Run and Healthy Family Expo May 10-14 - BOGO Book Fair May 11 - Breakfast and Books (PTA to provide Krispy Kreme donuts)

Mr. Saavedra discussed Field Day and the need for volunteer involvement. Rene Gibson discussed the Fall Festival. There currently is not a chairperson to

take charge of this event and this position needs to be filled as soon as possible. Dana Trinkle presented information on Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students)

and the need of more male volunteers at Whitestone. She asked that any Dads interested in joining to submit their LISD volunteer application this summer so that everything will be approved by the first week of September.

Mrs. Webster thanked the members of the PTA Executive Board for all of their hard work and dedication to Whitestone.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:26 pm. Kristen Miller, Secretary

Membership Report

We currently have 109 members Our goal this year is to have 350 members. With every membership purchased (depending on

the grade level) a puzzle piece goes to that grade. For those who have purchased PTA memberships

and have not received their cards please fill out the form and we will send it home with your child.

New this year - Hamster Ball and Rock Wall How you can help:

Volunteer for 1 or more 45 minute shift Help decorate and prepare the day of the event Donate items needed (2L sodas, candy, canned soda, etc) Sponsor a booth or activity

WatchDOGS

WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is the father involvement initiative of the National Center for Fathering that organizes fathers and father figures in order to provide positive male role models for the students and to enhance school security. Dads are asked to commit 1 day during school hours.

Must be an approved volunteer to participate. Our Pizza Kick-Off will be September 21st at 6:00

pm.

Reflections

The annual PTA Reflections program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition.
