White Horse Park Times 1 Boat Yard Update: The maintenance building face lift is complete. The old rotten areas of the walls have been replaced, a new garage door installed and new siding adorns the building. The 30 year old building looks new. For the past 3 years, maintenance (John) has been clearing and cleaning up the boat yard. This past summer they really made it shine. Now it is time for people who have watercraft in the boatyard to start taking pride in their small area their watercraft is placed upon. Many of the watercraft have covers that are torn, split and hanging two-thirds of the way off the boat, because the boat covers are rotted. Many people have junk piled behind their watercraft, that is not stacked or present a nice appearance. Then, there is the problem of watercraft that is in not working condition. The BOD will be sending letters to the owners who have water craft in the boat yard that appear to NOT be in running condition. Marina Rules and Regulations state; All watercraft must be in a usable condition and actively used. If you are one of the many owners, please be prepared to get your watercraft in working condition this spring, (whether you receive a letter or not), or you will be asked to remove the watercraft from the boat yard. The owners of WHP do not want to see the boat yard becoming a dump ground for old unwanted watercraft. We are trying to get rid of the small trees that have started growing along the boat yard fence line. These trees are nice for shade but terrible for the boats when the leaves fall. Please do not plant any more trees along the fence line. Small bushes are no problem, but NO trees. Remember if you plant a tree on common ground or a bush, you are responsible for the maintenance on that tree or bush. Maintenance has started placing fencing strips along the fence line where the strips needed to be replaced. They are about one-third the way done. SLIP RENEWAL’S

Boaters out there. If Santa brings you a new pontoon boat for Christmas, Please let him know the slips are only (TEN) 10 foot wide at White Horse Park Marina.

TREE UPDATE:

If you have been in the park lately you may have noticed the different tree service companies in the park. I am anxiously awaiting the bids from these many companies. As of the time of this paper, the companies have until the end of Nov to get back with me with their bids. But I will say we have approximately 133 trees for trimming, and 72 for removal.

Greetings to all of you!

As I left the park today the wind was blowing at about 35 miles per hour and the temperature was in the 30's not taking into account the wind chill. Winter was definitely on the horizon. It is very quiet in the park this time of year. It is such a busy time of year for everyone with plans for the holidays in full swing. It is a happy time of year with families gathering to celebrate. The Board of Directors and all the employees wish each and every one of you a wonderful holiday season. Work around the park will continue through the winter months in anticipation of the return in the spring of all the residents. Work on the Marina and ramp will begin again in December/January. The maintenance crew will construct the stanchions for the new pier at the Marina and other projects around the park. We will install the new fence at the entrance and that will complete that project. I think anyone who has been at the park since the first stage of fencing has been completed will agree that it has been a major improvement over the old, rotting fence that was there. We are still having problems with the back gate hanging up and may have to address that over the winter. We will be considering the purchase of some new picnic tables. Some of the tables we are currently using are in terrible shape and need to be replaced. I am sorry to say that it has become necessary for us to initiate a foreclosure on a property in the park but the unit is deeply in arrears and has made no attempt over the past year to catch up on past balances and are making no effort to pay current obligations on the property. The Board has postponed as long as we could before taking this action however it still is not a pleasant move to have to take with a resident. I am so pleased to see all the improvements that residents are making to their units the park. It looks better and better all the time. Thanks to you all for your hard work you are making a great place nicer for all of us. I wish you all a wonderful holiday season and a great new year. I look forward to the coming spring and summer seasons when we will see more of you. As always I am glad to hear from you and will answer any questions or concerns as best I can. You can contact me by the website or by mail to my post box # 41 or from the box in the foyer of the office. Enjoy the holidays and blessings to you and your families. Pat Heath

Werther's Original Caramel Apple Tart

Ingredients

1 sheet frozen ready-to-bake puff pastry, defrosted 3 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored 2 tbsp. butter ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon ½ pkg (4.5 oz. or 14 pieces) Werther’s Baking Caramels Directions

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. 2. Lay the puff pastry on a parchment paper lined sheet pan. If the pastry has creases in it, roll a rolling pin over it to flatten it out slightly. Cut a large disk from the pastry (it will be about 9 – 10 inch in diameter) using a dinner plate for a pattern. Prick the surface all over with a fork, well. 3. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes till golden brown on top. Set aside. 4. Meanwhile, cut each apple into 8 wedges. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add apples and cook, stirring occasionally 10 minutes or until apples begin to soften. Reduce heat to low and cook an additional 5 minutes or until apples are cooked through. Remove apples from skillet and set aside. 5. Add the cinnamon and caramels to skillet and melt over low heat, stirring frequently for 5 minutes. Return apples to skillet and fold them into the melted caramel. 6. Spoon the warm apple mixture over cooked pastry. Tart is best when served the same day.

ENJOY THIS DELICIOUS DESSERT

LEAVES: Most if not all leaves are off of the trees. Please rake your leaves. When you bag your leaves; Leaves only, place those bags behind the dumpsters. The maintenance crew takes the leaves to an organic farm. But they need leaves only, no sticks, pine cones, pine needles. If you get a mixture of these in your bag please place those bags into the dumpster. Remember “leaves only “get bagged and put behind the dumpster. All other yard debris goes into the dumpsters that are not cautioned taped and closed. (These dumpsters are not used during the winter months).

MARINA UP-DATE: New permits had to be submitted for Phase 4 and the boat ramp. Phase 4 is the replacement of the back pier. We are requesting the State allow us to straighten out the back pier a little creating a 40 foot distance between slip 48 and the fish cleaning station on the main pier. Right now it is hard for people to access slips 47 through 52 because of the spacing from these slips to the fish cleaning station. The replaced 47 slips will be approximately 10 foot wide. At this time the slips vary from 8 foot to 10 foot wide. The back 6 foot wide pier will support 5 light posts. We will have cameras placed on these posts. Also along the pier, John will be installing water and electric stations. These stations are designed by John. I showed him a picture of what we needed at the marina in a boating magazine. We could not pay $600.00 a piece for eighteen of them, so John designed them for a small fraction of the cost. You can see John’s handy work on the main pier. Keeping our fingers crossed and a lot of praying, the marina and the boat ramp are a success in the spring.
