USAGE OF FOS DATA IN NTPRO
• This Smart Marine solution enables users to utilize FOS collected and aggregated data and practically apply them in NTPro simulators for debriefing, assessment, incident\accident investigations, GAP-analysis and as a base for creating a realistic scenario without having to manually define all target information.
• The primary source data (Navigation and Meteo) is the data received from the vessels and other objects and stored on TRANSAS cloud servers:
• Own ship data including timestamped positions, SOG, ROT, AIS ship type and dimensions
• AIS targets data including timestamped positions, SOG, ROT, AIS ship type and dimensions, Navigational status, IMO and MMSI numbers (if available)
• AIS data from meteorological stations (if available)
• True wind speed and direction from the ownship
• The output data is an NTPro exercise, which is fully compatible with the ‘target’ simulator in regard to format, data sets, databases, performance etc.

ICE MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONALITY
As an addition to the existing Ice Functionality, Wärtsilä has developed an Ice Management Functionality. This
functionality provides detailed breaking of the ice, instead of creating channels in one huge ice field, the ice is now broken
up in small bits and pieces, which interacts with each other, structures, hulls, propeller wakes and the bottom.
TYPICAL SCENARIOS
• Ice management with multiple ice-breakers
• Risk identification
• A-to-B transit in various ice concentrations
• Search & Rescue in ice covered and remote areas
• Port and fairway studies in ice covered areas

INSTRUCTOR CRANE FUNCTIONALITY
The Crane Cargo Functionality is a functionality, enabling the instructor to control the lattice boom crane on Semisubmersible 1 ship AH and the knuckle boom crane on OSV 3 AH. The crane can be operated on the own ship as well as on the 6 DOF target.
The main purpose of the CCF is to create a realistic environment during DP and advanced ship handling scenarios.
TRANSFERABLE OBJECTS/CARGOS
• Containers (10ft, 20ft and 40ft)
• Personnel Basket
The cargo library will increase as a part of ongoing development and will include various
types of cargos including subsea equipment. The new cargos will be available for all users
and is planned to be ready in mid-2019.
The crane is controlled from the Offshore Panel in NTPRO instructor station and all
movements can be observed on the Instructor chart or on the 3D Instructor Selective View.
All moving parts of the crane is controllable through an intuitive user interface;
• Luffing
• Hoisting/lowering hook
• Slewing

INSTRUCTOR ON CHART CONTROL 3-DOF TARGET CONTROL
A new way of controlling 3 DOF targets which
are not assigned to a route has been developed.
The instructor clicks (LMB) the vessel and the
movement controls will appear. The target will
adapt to the new settings in realistic manner (not
jump instantly).

REWIND FUNCTIONALITY
New functionality that improves training effectiveness on NTPRO Bridge, enabling multiple re-play of any part of exercise without
restarting entire exercise session.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
• Correction of critical trainee mistakes during long exercises;
• Comparing different operation strategies on Bridge, replaying the same part of exercise;
By means of this functionality, the instructor may change traditional simulator training process by performing “on-line exercise
debriefing” giving to trainee immediate feedback on all his faults and mistakes. At any time of exercise, the instructor may initiate
repeated execution of the same exercise part, by pausing and returning to “past time”.
The functionality has following limitations:
• Anchor Handling, Oil spillage, SCS, Ice management and Fish Farm does not support rewinding.
• Joint operations with ERS.
• E-Tutor will be restarted from scratch.
• HW controls and external systems (DP system, ECDIS and so on) should be manually restarted/reset.
• Conning device settings (Autopilot, Gyro, Log, Echo etc.).

REMOTE INSTRUCTOR CONTROL
This new functionality is intended for exercise control by the instructor from any point
of NTPRO Bridge (Instructors, who supervise trainee performance, located on a
bridge during exercise session).
The Remote Instructor Panel is a WEB application, running on Android\Windows
Tablet (iOS is tested as well and works except for full-screen mode), communicating
with NTPRO via unique WEB Server.
The WEB Server is a NTPRO Root application, which provides access to simulator
data via Wi-Fi.
The Remote Instructor Panel displays exercise charts (same as on main Instructor
station). The instructor can select active loaded session, pause and resume it, set
different event markers, zoom\pane chart, get basic vessel\targets information
including vectors.

ADVANCED FAULTS AND ACTION SYSTEM
A new Instructor functionality unifies process of faults setup: before
exercise, during exercise, and dependent upon time and conditions.
All simulator faults setup are now done from the integrated “Faults
panel” which makes this process flexible and controllable.
“Faults panel” also used in e-Tutor, for creating different faults
scenarios (automatic faults introduction depending upon time and
conditions).
New faults system includes:• Introduction of random and systematic errors of all sensors (GPS,
Gyro, Log, Wind etc.);• Introduction of faults and errors of Propulsion, Steering and
Thrusters systems;• Introduction of background noises for VHF receivers;• Control of vessel power plant (Diesel Generators, tie\bus breakers
etc.) ;

MNS 34
MNS 34 including NS4000, NR4000, Navi Planner 4000 and MFD functionality, is the
default MNS version in NTPRO 5.40.
Chart assistant is no longer available which means that Navi Planner is now required for
chart operations.

SUPPORT FOR NEW DYNAMIC POSITIONING SYSTEM
NTPRO will support the Wärtsilä NACOS DP Platinum and General Electrics. The interfaces will be similar as the one used for Marine
Technologies and Rolls Royce but with MODBUS for communication with thrusters and Power Management.
Both Wärtsilä and GE has a broad application spectra, having experience of DP installations on almost any type of maritime and oil/gas
platforms such as OSV’s, Drillships, Shuttle Tankers, Cable/pipe lay, Heavy lift, Passenger ships and Naval ships.

INTEGRATION WITH TECHSIM SAFETY MONITORING AND CONTROL SYSTEM
Safety Monitoring and Control System (SMCS) is a new module within TECHSIM, which replicates typical Safety and Security Center of
cruise vessel (Passenger Cruise Ship 16) and is used in Joint Operation mode with NTPRO.
The module is primarily designed to imitate and control the following emergency situations: fire, smoke, flooding, abandonment. SMCS
simulator is closely linked to Bridge simulator.
Deck flooding simulated in Safety and Security simulator affects vessel dynamics in NTPRO.

BRIDGE SOUNDS MODEL
Special efforts have been made to improve the external sounds on the simulator bridge.
This includes • calculation of collision and grounding sound intensity, sounds generated
by engines and propulsion revolution. • calculation of collision and grounding sounds are based on the kinetic
energy radiated during vessel contact with other vessels, bottom or mooring fenders.
• mechanical sounds on the vessel bridge, is simulated as a sum of multiple sound sources: engines, thrusters, generators and propellers. Each sound source has multiple wav. samples, which depends upon source type and revolution frequency.
Intensity and spectra of summary sound on the bridge depends upon distances to sound sources and absorption properties of the wheelhouse.

LONGSHORE CURRENTS
A new way of inserting currents has been developed. The object Stream line– is a line consisting of one or more segments where each segment determines current vector (speed and direction).
The Stream line object was developed to simulate rip curls along a beach/coastline, but the functionality can be used to create any current pattern and the speed and direction is interpolated between the different current set points. A typical use case is river currents.
