It seems impossible that I am sitting here thinking about Thanksgiving, with all of the hustle and bustle of the holidays ahead. However, it is agood reminder to slow down and give thanks for the many blessings

God has bestowed on me and my family.

The reality is that I only have a little over two and three years left with myolder children under my roof full time! Yikes! It feels like yesterday thatthey were here running (or using their “walkingfeet”) in the halls at Bonhomme Preschool and KDO.I reminisce over their preschool-age photos andthink what I would give to have just one more daywith them at that age. Yet, God wants us to thinkabout how we can enjoy today—not to worry abouttomorrow or what we could have done differentlyyesterday. He knows how fast time flies and thatthe memories we make with loved ones are thetrue treasures.

November is a great time to sit with your family andtalk about the many ways God has blessed you. There are thousands of creative ideas on Pinterest,Facebook, or the multiple other DIY websites thatdemonstrate crafty, fun things you can do with your familythrough the holidays on giving thanks.

Hello! As the leaves turn brilliant colors, thetemperatures dip, and the holiday seasonis right around the corner, all exciting

changes, the Preschool and KDO's constancy arewelcome anchors to these seasonal rhythms. It is ajoy and a privilege to be able to have your childrenat Bonhomme as we celebrate seasons and haveyour children at the church during these formativeyears. Thank you for trusting us with your precioussons and daughters.

I know our teachers view what they do as notsimply imparting knowledge and helping with allthe other areas of development but also caring foryour children. At Bonhomme, all that we do isinformed by our faith in Jesus Christ. This is seenboth during the week in the halls, classrooms, andplayground, and on Sundays as we worship ourSavior.

At the church, we have a wonderful community ofpeople in all seasons of life that care for eachother and would love to extend that love to you. Iknow I am biased, but I think the people atBonhomme are pretty special! I invite you to a bea part if you are wanting to connect with a familyof faith and would like to sit down with you andtalk about what that might look like—over a warmcup of coffee!

Again, thank you for allowing Bonhomme to be apart of you and your children's lives.

Joy,

Bonhomme Preschool and KDO children were soblessed to have our very own Fireman Andy Seerscome and talk about fire safety in October! He took

time out of his busy schedule as Deputy Chief of the CreveCouer Fire Department to teach the children exactly whatto do in case of a fire.

Fireman Andy wore his entire uniform, including his oxygentank, in order to show the kids what firefighters have towear when they leave for an emergency. He talked throughhis mask and had the children listen to his voice. Thisimportant lesson teaches children to not fear a firefighterand to always go to a firefighter in any emergency.

See the photo on the top right? That is Andy showing thechildren that he has a cross tucked into his helmet. Heshared with the classes what Jesus means to him and thatJesus is always first into the fire…that Jesus is our ultimateprotector and our strength comes from him!

The children love to visit with Fireman Andy and lookforward to fire safety every fall! A big THANK YOU to AndySeers and his dedication to serving this community, ourschool, and of course, our Lord and Savior!

This time of year reminds me of when my children startedpreschool and all of the things we had to look forward to. Iwas so interested in making sure that my children were

meeting all of their goals socially, emotionally, spiritually, andcognitively. I knew that Bonhomme was the right choice for mychild(ren) as a whole, but I was also so thankful that St. Louis hadmany FREE resources to help.

I took full advantage of the Parents as Teachers program throughthe Parkway School District. I loved my parent educator who camefour times a year to talk to me about my children and theirmilestones. Once my children were three, I had them screened atthe Parkway Early Childhood Center, another free resource. I wasagain so thankful that our community offers such amazingresources.

If you would like more information about these resources in yourdistrict, please visit (or call) the school office.

ART APPRECIATION In October, welearned about illustrator Steven Kellogg. We viewed his whimsical drawings fromseveral popular children’s books, andtalked about how Kellogg was able togive his animal drawings suchpersonality. In November, we will studythe art of Norman Rockwell and his loveof this country and its freedoms. (Mrs.Lewis)

MUSIC We are having a blast in musicusing all kinds of different instruments, singing, and dancing. We are workingour way through the Old Testament inGod’s true word the Bible. Your childrenare acting out these truths and singingsongs like Father Abraham, Who Builtthe Ark, God Made Me, and We areClimbing Jacob’s Ladder.

We will start working on the NativityPlay this month and gearing up forChristmas! And we are singing all of thetheme songs for fall and Thanksgivingsuch as Hop Old Squirrel, I’m an Acorn,1 Little, 2 Little, 3 Little Indians, Comingto America, and more! (Mrs. Rinklin)

P.E. Most P.E. classes include exercise, skill building, and fun game time. Webegan the school year emphasizingspatial awareness (a.k.a. not bumpinginto our friends). We have worked onsoccer skills, movement skills, andperforming an obstacle course just toname a few highlights. Ask them abouttheir favorite game. It is amazing howwell they can follow multiple directionsthat it takes to play games. It is our joyto work with your children each weekand help them to embrace movement

challenges with confidence and fun.(Mrs. Cline and Mrs. Alizadeh)

SPANISH We are having lots of funlearning our colors, talking aboutgrande (big) and pequeno (little),dancing with some traditional silly songsand learning about calabazas(pumpkins). Our calabaza song hassome silly faces that we practice—happy, tired, angry, scared, frustrated, surprised. In addition, we stand up, sitdown, turn around, go to sleep andwake up, and sing Head, Shoulders,Knees and Toes—all in Spanish! One ofour very favorites is the Color Song:“Red is rojo, green is verde, blue azul, negro black, yellow amarillo, purple ismorado, gray is gris, brown cafe, whiteis blanco, pink is rosita, orange isanaranjado.” (Maestra Lindberg)

At Bonhomme, we are blessed to be able to offer a variety of “specials” for our students. Not only does this help exposethem to different teachers and teaching styles, it also provides additional opportunities for our students to grow socially, emotionally, cognitively, physically, and spiritually.

Teacher of the MonthCongratulations to Bonhomme
