100% Pro!le Strength – Completing you LinkedIn profile so that you reach 100% has many benefits. You are 40X more likely to be found, Google will rank your LinkedIn profile higher in searches & you will appear more professional & motivated than those that don’t complete their profile, which is about 50% of users!

Tip 1

Pro!le Picture – Needs to be professional. Adding a picture increases chance of being contacted by x7

Name – If you have a middle initial, this may help you standout if there are others who share the same first/last name. This is also the name you should use on all other social media / CV’s to help those searching for you find the same you

Pro!le Headline – What is it that you do? What problem(s) do you solve? How do you help people? Include your current job role as LinkedIn works like like Google by using ‘keywords’ to help identify & match people with searches. I have included ‘career’ & ‘coach’ & ‘trainer’ as these are words I want to be ‘matched’ with by potential clients/recruiters who are searching LinkedIn

Industry – Make sure you select one that best suits your current situation from the choices given. If you are thinking of moving into a new career, this may change at a later date. You can always update your profile as your situation changes

Location – Showing the largest city near you will ensure you show up in geographical based searches

Summary – Use this part to connect with the reader. Most summaries are written in the first person (e.g. I am xxx). Read other summaries for inspiration. How do you want to come across to a prospective employer/client? This is where you can tell your story, in your style. You have 2000 characters, but don’t feel you have use them all – short, sharp & snappy!

Tip 4

Job/Work Experience – To reach 100% you need to complete your current role & at least 2 previous roles. These can be P/T, voluntary roles. However, don’t make up any work roles just to get to 100%! Include an accurate job title which includes keywords that are searchable. Make sure dates & descriptions are the same across all social media (odd dates look, well odd).

Education – You can look up the colleges & universities that you have attended & this will give you the logo beside your course. It may be relevant to include the different modules you are taking and/or have completed. You can also add any extra curriculum achievements here too. Again, keywords are ‘key’, especially if you are just starting you career

Skills & Expertise – You need to select at least 3 to get a 100% completed profile. Your contacts can ‘endorse’ you for the skills you select (you can have up to 50 – but keep it to 10-15 – no one is an expert at everything).

Key Word Skills – You can add skills as a set of keywords at the end of your summary. I have placed a line of dots to separate them from the main text

Tip 7

Connections – You need to have a minimum of 50 to reach 100%. You can import contacts & this will help show recommendations of people to connect with. My personal choice is the more connections the more influence, awareness, branding & potential opportunities I expose myself to. However, you don’t have to connect with everyone but what’s social about that?

Make it public! – In your settings tab, select ‘Privacy & Settings’, then select ‘Edit Your Public Profile. In the next screen that opens select the public profile option. You can then edit exactly which parts of your profile are made public. If search engines can’t find you, people won’t contact you. You can keep your profile private until you are happy with it.
