subtropical regions, with few treesBantu Migrations: series of migrations of
the Bantu people from the Congo area to present day Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Climate ZonesSahara Desert, largest desert in the worldAlthough huge in size, and rough terrain, it
was still considered as a huge trade route. These regions contained salt, gold, iron,
copper, oil and diamonds which spurred trade.
Movement between landsBesides barriers like rainforests, and
desserts, migrators also had to deal with enormous coastlines.
The Red Sea, and Indian Ocean were very important as it lead to trade routes with the Middle East and other Asian lands.
Bantu MigrationScholars have traced African farmers trading
from 1000 B.C to 1000 A.D. These people spoke a variety of languages,
that come from one root language… Bantu. In many regions, this type of trading built
empires.Archaeologists believe that the migration was
caused by the development of agriculture, and ceramics of iron.
