What to Expect When Accessing Ticketmaster.com for 2020 Oaks & Derby Reserved Seat/Box and Dining Tickets

• Customers may access the public online sale opportunity by clicking on the “buy” button listed on the kyderby.com online sale page that corresponds with the type of seating you wish to purchase. You will then be redirected to Ticketmaster.

• Customers may also access the online sale by searching for the “Kentucky Derby” on the Ticketmaster mobile app or Ticketmaster.com.• If you experience issues when trying to purchase on the Ticketmaster website, please call Ticketmaster directly and ask for a representative at 855-622-4622.

For the 2020 presale and public on sale, Ticketmaster’s Smart Queue online waiting room will be available. This process creates a virtual customer line to provide a more effective method when purchasing tickets.

1.) Upon selecting the event you would like to purchase from kyderby.com, your browser will redirect to Ticketmaster.com. • You may also select the desired event from the Ticketmaster mobile app or ticketmaster.com.

2.) Sign in with your Ticketmaster.com website account.• If you do not have a ticketmaster.com account, you may create an account at this time.

• It is recommended that you create a ticketmaster.com account and confirm your payment information prior to the day of the on sale.

• If you do not sign into your ticketmaster.com account, you will not be able to join the waiting room; and will receive an error stating “Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again.”

3.) Click “Join Waiting Room.”• Join the Waiting Room at least 10 minutes prior to the on sale.

• The Waiting Room join option is typically not visible on the event page until 10 to 15 minutes prior to the on sale.

• Once you join the Waiting Room, do not refresh or close your browser.

• If you are planning to shop for tickets on your mobile device, do not allow your screen to dim or turn off; nor should you switch to use another app.

4.) Enter your phone number to receive a one-time code.• Based on the volume of customers attempting to purchase tickets, you may be asked to confirm your identity with a one-time code.

• You may have the code sent to you via text message or an automated phone call.

• This process assists with stopping automated bots from purchasing tickets.

5.) Confirm your one-time code.• Enter the one-time code provided to you via Ticketmaster. Click or tap “Confirm.”

6.) Hang out in the Waiting Room.• Being in the “Waiting Room” does not guarantee tickets will be available for purchase once your spot in the queue line has been reached.

• You may only be in one waiting room for one event at a time.

• Also, you may only be logged into one device (desktop or mobile device) with a unique ticketmaster.com account and confirmed phone number at a time. If you attempt to join two queues or waiting rooms, Ticketmaster will provide a message stating, “You can’t join this queue because you’re already in line. Please return to your original device or browser to complete your ticket purchase.”

• Reminder – do not close or refresh your browser, nor let your mobile device dim (if using the app).

7.) The sale has begun and the Queue is now open.• Once the event is on sale, the Queue will open and you will automatically be given a place in line.

• If for some reason a “Join the Queue” box appears, click on the box to join the virtual line.

• By waiting in Queue (a virtual line), the shopping experience is enhanced. Customers now know the status of their spot in line; and the Queue fights against automated bots trying to scoop up tickets.


7.) The sale has begun and the Queue is now open – continued.• If you visit the event page after the on sale has begun, the waiting room is closed.

• At this point, you just need to sign into your ticketmaster.com account and click on “Join the Queue.”

• Customers that join the Queue once the event is on sale are placed in the virtual line after all customers that were sitting in the Waiting Room.


8.) Wait in Queue.• Stay close to your computer or mobile device.

• Your spot in line is automatically updated and frequently refreshed.


9.) Follow your status in Queue.• Follow the walking stick person in the Queue status bar.

• Look for “Messages” in the Queue line. There may be updates from Ticketmaster on event seating options, such as only scattered singles are available.

10.) You’re up next!• You are next in line to attempt to purchase tickets!

• If your are purchasing during the presale, ensure you have your password ready.

• Once it is your turn, the page will automatically refresh, and you will be on the ticket request purchase page.


11.) For presale offers, find the offer code box.• If you are purchasing tickets during the presale, find the “Enter Offer Code” box on your desktop browser.

• If you are purchasing tickets on the Ticketmaster mobile app, tap on the “Code” box.

12.) Enter your presale password.• In the “Enter Offer Code” box, type in your unique password provided in your email. Please be aware that your password is case sensitive.

• After entering your password, click the lock button or press enter on your keyboard.

13.) If you have entered your password correctly, it will provide a success unlocked message.

14.) Select the type of ticket you would like to purchase.• You may select your purchase type from:

• The “type” drop down menu.

• The seat selection sidebar.

• Or click on the map sections to look for available seats.

• On the map, sections colored in blue have available seats, while gray sections are currently not available.

14.) Select tickets by type – continued.• From the “type” drop down box, you may select different ticket offers for your search.

• When you select a type, only sections with available seat inventory for that offer will show sidebar and on the map as blue in color.

• Note that on the mobile app, you will need to tap on “filters” instead of “type.”

14.) Selecting tickets by section map – continued.• If you click on a section on the map to search for tickets, the section color will turn black to indicate it has been selected.

• You may select more than one section at a time. However, you will limit ticket searches for the sections in black color only.

• To unselect a section, click on the section on the map to return it to a blue color.

14.) Selecting ADA seating – continued.• If you require ADA seating, slide the ADA logo toggle button at the top right hand corner of the selection bar.

• Available ADA seating options will appear on the map and seat selection sidebar.

• Note that you must agree to the Terms of Use when purchasing ADA seating.

15.) Select the number of seats you would like to purchase from the “QTY” plus/minus option.• Note that in section 111 box seats and Plaza Balcony dining tables, you must purchase the entire box or table. Select 6 tickets from the QTY option in order to purchase.

• There is a ticket limit of 6 tickets combined across both the reserved seating/box and dining events.

• On the mobile app, you will select the number of tickets from the “tickets” drop down box.

16.) Review your seat selection.• Once you have selected tickets, confirm the seating details on the sidebar, and select “Next” to continue.

• Reminder to move at a steady pace. Other customers are also searching for tickets. If a customers chooses the same seats as you and clicks “Next” first, you will lose those seats and need to continue with your seat search and selection.

• You do not have confirmed seats in your shopping cart until you click “Next” and are able to move onto the following check out screen.

17.) Optional – Souvenir Ticket Add On• Will you be selecting the mobile ticket delivery option, but still wish you could have a souvenir physical ticket?

• Add a Derby and/or Oaks souvenir ticket to your order. Souvenir tickets ship post event in June 2020.

• Note that souvenir tickets are not valid for entry, will not list your exact seat location, and are not customizable.

18.) Delivery Method• Mobile tickets: Select “Go Mobile.” There is no additional charge for mobile tickets. Tickets will be available to view on your mobile device through the Churchill Downs

Racetrack mobile app the week of the race. No tickets are mailed, as your phone is your ticket for entry.

• Commemorative Ticket and UPS Delivery: Physical tickets are shipped by Churchill Downs in April 2020 for $100.00 per order. Your commemorative ticket is your ticket for entry. However, you may still manage your tickets and go mobile through the Churchill Downs Racetrack mobile app.

• Both delivery options are available to post for resale on the Kentucky Derby Ticket Exchange through your My Churchill Downs Account Manager log on. Visit www.kyderby.com/resale for more information.

19.) Payment• Confirm or enter your method of payment.

20.) Review and Submit• Review your Order Details/Summary.

• Then click or tap “Place Order.”

• Note that if you cancel your order, you will be placed back in the Queue/virtual line.

21.) Order Complete• While your order is processing and securing your Verified Tickets, do not refresh or close your browser.

• If you are on a mobile device, do not leave the app until the process is complete.

21.) Order Complete – continued.• Did you purchase Commemorative Ticket and UPS Shipping?

• When viewing your order under “My Events” on ticketmaster.com, note that the delivery method will not appear correctly.

• The website will display: Standard Mail - Your tickets will be mailed to your billing address within 10 to 14 days of your purchase.

• Not to fear. Your correct delivery method will be shown in the email receipt you receive from Ticketmaster. Your commemorative tickets will ship via UPS in April 2020.

21.) Order Complete Email – continued.• Email receipt examples of “Go Mobile” and “Commemorative Ticket and UPS Delivery” options.

• Go Mobile tickets:

• Download the Churchill Downs Racetrack app to view your mobile tickets on your phone. Tickets will not be visible on the Ticketmaster app.

• Additional details will be emailed to customers in April 2020 with login information and instructions for viewing mobile tickets.

• Commemorative Ticket and UPS Delivery:

• Tickets ship via UPS from Churchill Downs in April 2020.

• Once this option is selected at check out, you may not switch to the “Go Mobile” no additional fee delivery method.

Looking to purchase two day combo general admission tickets?

All two day general admission packages will be sold through Ticketmaster’s Churchill Downs Account Manager.

1) When viewing Ticketmaster.com, click on the “See Tickets” or “Find Tickets” button for the “146th Kentucky Derby & Oaks 2-Day Package General Admission.”

2) Once redirected to account manager, click the continue button on the “2020 Derby and Oaks: General Admission” event.


3) Select the number of two day package tickets you wish to purchase from the drop down menu and click “find tickets.”


4) Once seats are returned, click the “add to cart” button.


5) At this point, you will be asked to sign into your My Churchill Downs Account Manager account or create a new account.

Note that this account is not the same as your Ticketmaster.com account.

If you attempt to create an account with a pre-existing email address, the site will inform that an account with this email address already exist from a previous order or registration. You will need to click on the “Forgot Your Password?” link to acquire your password and sign in. Or you may create a new account with a different email address.


6) After signing in, you will move to the shopping cart. Select “mobile” from the delivery method drop down box.

Two day combo general admission tickets are only available for mobile delivery method. Tickets will be available to view on your mobile device through the Churchill Downs Racetrack app in March 2020.


7) Click “checkout” to continue your order.


8) Enter your credit card information and click “next step.”


9) Confirm your order and click “submit order.”


10) Congratulations! Your order is complete. You may print this page for your receipt.
