POW ER play What makes summer so memorable? Summer was often thought of as a time off from academics, filled with lazy days and good times with friends. Although many students may have lounged by the pool or saw “The Avengers” movie for a fifth time, the reality for many was anything but lazy. Summer was a time for athletes, band members, cheerleaders, StuCo members, and others to attend camps. The Marching Band held a special leadership workshop that students such as seniors Jaime Bridges and Lauren Milbourn attended. Summer family vacations or youth group mission trips took students like junior Sydney Norris out of town. Summer was a time when Science teacher Julia Pick welcomed her third child into the world. Summer meant catching a College World Series baseball game, working nearly full-time hours at Hy-Vee, plowing through summer reading for AP Lit, or taking PE in summer school, but we know WE’LL REMEMBER EVERY POWER up In the brass section, junior Miles McKinley and freshman Nollan Sorrell play their instruments at the fall pep rally.
