grant the authority to govern within constitutional constraints (rule of law)
Twodominantvarieties:
1.DirectDemocracy
• citizensaredirectlyinvolvedinmakingdecisions
2.RepresentativeDemocracy
• decisionsaffectingthecommunityaremadebyelectedrepresentativesofthepeople
• twoforms:theConstitutionalMonarchy(hereditarymonarchislargelyaceremonialheadofstate)andtheRepublic(peopleelecttheheadofstate)
