Deposition

Is an event where a defense attorney willask you to answer questions orally aboutyour injuries and accident. Yourattorney will ask the person at faultquestions.

Phase

The Deposition is part of the discovery phase.This means it is after law suit stage and has alreadygone through the litigation. The discovery phasefirst starts with interrogatory. This is a writtendocument where you answer questions about yourinjuries and accident. The deposition is an in­person follow up that allows for more detail.

What to Expect

The questions you will be asked will be similar to the questions asked ininterrogatory. Honesty is important because you will be under oath, just like incourt of law. Your attorney may or may not want to meet with you in advance to goover what information you do and do not have to share. Your attorney will be withyou the whole time to make sure the defendant's attorney does not ask anyquestions that are not allowed.
