The snow, snowmen, and reindeer that pull Santaʼs sleigh. This is Christmas. The history of Christmas: Since 1870, U.S. Christians have celebrated Christmas on December 25th. The meaning of Christmas is not to get or give presents; it is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. He was the founder of Christianity and was crucified. He gave up his life so that people can die and go to heaven. Every year we remember him by celebrating Christmas. Donʼt get me wrong, the thrill of ripping open off the paper, seeing what you got is awesome, but that isnʼt the real meaning of Christmas. The real meaning of Christmas is spending time with your family, and celebrating Jesus Christʼs Birthday. This is a Jewish holiday that Jewish people celebrate. Hanukkah usually starts in December, like this year. There are 8 days of Hanukkah and on each day, they give small gifts. Unlike Christmas, all of the days are the same and they read sacred books and spend time with their families. The History of Hanukkah: The eight-day Jewish celebration known as Hanukkah or Chanukah commemorates the rededication during the second century B.C. of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, where according to legend Jews had risen up against their Greek-Syrian oppressors in the Maccabean Revolt. Hanukkah, which means "dedication" in Hebrew, begins on the 25th of Kislev on the Hebrew calendar and usually falls in November or December. Often called the Festival of Lights, the holiday is celebrated with the lighting of the menorah, traditional foods, games and gifts. Variety Show 2011

The Variety Show was founded by Mrs. Friedman, Mrs. Hurley, Ms. Couzins, and Mrs. Marquette. To first start the Variety Show the teachers had to check with Mr. Kramer, come up with some guidelines, write a parent note, make announcements about it, find a place to practice, and then think of a date to have the final show . The practices are from 3-5, once a week, on every Wednesday, and it is in the choir room. When interviewing Mrs. Friedman, we found out what the most popular acts were and she said that usually group dances are the most popular. Anyone can enter but you can only enter if you are appropriate. This year a lot of people are participating in the variety show, so there will two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Mrs. Friedman said that she would not enter herself in the Variety Show because, “I am not talented.” The show is on Tuesday the 20th. I hope you enjoy the 2011 Variety Show!

It is sort of hard to put them up. -wiki

Dear Aunt Sally, This week I got my test back. My mom gets mad when I have a B or below on tests or report cards. I got a F on my test which brought my math grade down to a B-. I am scared to tell my mom, so do you think I should tell her? Should I just try harder to get it back to an A? I donʼt know what to do. Sincerely, Judy Johnson

Dear Judy Johnson, Definitely tell your mom. She will find out anyway sooner or later. She might be mad, but she will have more respect for you because you were being honest with her. You should still try harder to get an A again. Not only will your mom be proud of you, but you will be proud of yourself. Hope this helped!Your friend,Aunt Sally
