constructing this product?

ImovieWe used Imovie to edit our opening sequence of 39 weeks. I found this programme simple to use once I got the hang of it. We used it to add our titles rather than using livetypebecause we found that the simpler it was the more effective for our opening sequence. We were faced with problems at times like when attempting to add the music to go with our piece imovie just wouldn’t respond but by simply restarting the computer we overcame this problem.

Imovie was also extremely useful with transitions. It has a variety of transitions which makes cuts look smoother. Our group used cross dissolve because we found it was the best transition to go with our piece. We also found that you can make frames different colours like sepia, black and white and fade them etc. We personally didn’t use any of these effects because they didn’t go with the opening sequence yet they were extremely good effects. I also discovered that there are many themes in imovie. Overall I think that this programme is easy to use and in my opinion very good because it covers everything you need to make a simple movie such as ours.

Music In doing this task I found that there are a vast amount of websites with unlicensed music on the internet. Opposite are examples of two. (freeplay music and free music archive) these websites categorisethe music into different ‘feels’ such as angry, sad, burning/sinister and they also categories the music into different genres such as hip hop for example which is the one we used. These were very useful and had lots and lots of different types of music on them that we could choose from.

Originally we got our music from freeplay music but after finding free music archive we found that it was a much better website and fitted in with our piece because in general the music on free music archive was more modern.

Garageband used for the monologue

Garageband was used to change the levels of sound and to record the monologue.

Garageband is an extremely useful programme. We were able to change the tone and pitch of our dialogue which we chose to leave it as it is and just change the sound levels (pictured on left) as well as this if we wanted to we could change the voice completely to ‘mouse voice’ for example.

If we wanted to we could also make our backing track on garage band as its filled with different sounds.
