Hearty congratulations must go to our Captain John Campbell and the Ferndown GC team in staging our first ‘post-Covid’ event. Great lengths had been gone to in order that the distancing rules were observed. Notwithstanding the weather forecast and the many who drove through the rain to reach Ferndown, the actual event was totally dry from start to finish, with much sunshine and with the course in beautiful condition. The club house staff made us very welcome with a hearty bacon bap and coffee before launching ourselves at the challenge set by John of playing off the white tees of the Old Course. To reassure the faint-hearted John gave everyone a very generous gift of a dozen golf balls but listening to the post event chatter few were needed as the green fairways and lush greens were receptive to everyone’s shots. The post event meal was a first-class affair, delightful breast of chicken with vegetables and tasty gravy followed by a mouth-watering dessert. The one note of sadness was that due to the Covid regulations no post event presentation could be held and the winners had to wait a few days for the results to become available. However, all in all, a FIRST CLASS EVENT. Thank you John. 36 golfers played in teams of 3 with 2 scores to count. Enjoying the event were Team 1 Graham Wilkin Paul Fowell Peter Foster RESULT 3 rd (ocb) – 76 (37&39) Points WHAT A STUNNING DAY Captain’s Day Tuesday 18 August 2020 At Ferndown Golf Club

  • Hearty congratulations must go to our Captain John Campbell and the Ferndown GC team in

staging our first ‘post-Covid’ event. Great lengths had been gone to in order that the distancing

    rules were observed.

Notwithstanding the weather forecast and the many who drove through the rain to reach

Ferndown, the actual event was totally dry from start to finish, with much sunshine and with the

    course in beautiful condition.

The club house staff made us very welcome with a hearty bacon bap and coffee before launching

ourselves at the challenge set by John of playing off the white tees of the Old Course. To

reassure the faint-hearted John gave everyone a very generous gift of a dozen golf balls but

listening to the post event chatter few were needed as the green fairways and lush greens were

receptive to everyone’s shots. The post event meal was a first-class affair, delightful breast of

chicken with vegetables and tasty gravy followed by a mouth-watering dessert.

The one note of sadness was that due to the Covid regulations no post event presentation could

be held and the winners had to wait a few days for the results to become available.

However, all in all, a FIRST CLASS EVENT. Thank you John.
