Unique Law School Programs

University of King’s (Halifax) King’s students who complete the Foundation Year Program are provisionally pre-admitted to the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law. Provisional admittance means students will have an advantage in the applicant pool but will still have to maintain scholarship standing throughout the remainder of their degree at King’s and Dalhousie. King’s students will still be required to write the Law School Admission Test and prove their social commitment though extracurriculars. Achieving a scholarship average in FYP and subsequent

undergraduate degree will be deemed as meeting the University of Calgary’s academic standards and provisional admission to the law program will be granted. A qualifying average will be recognized as at least a B plus (3.3) in FYP and an A minus (3.7) in subsequent years. Link to more information Wilfrid Laurier University Laurier’s Law Program provides an international learning experience that is one of the first of its kind for a Canadian university. Students earn a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Laurier and a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom (UK) in only six years. Participants in this program will be exposed to Laurier's commitment to social justice and global engagement and, as an added perk, an LSAT score is not required for admission. This program is available with the following Laurier programs: Political Science and Philosophy on the Waterloo campus and Criminology, Human Rights and Human Diversity, Humanities with Leadership Foundations and Law and Society on the Brantford campus. Link to more information Laurier allows students to study law internationally without the requirement to take the LSAT and then come back to Laurier so they can practice in Canada. Ryerson University Ryerson Law's Integrated Practice Curriculum is designed to provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge required to launch successful legal careers soon after graduation. As part of Ryerson’s commitment to experiential learning, students will receive hands-on mentorship throughout their degree and work with the latest technological innovations redefining legal practice today. Ryerson believes lawyers need real-world experience to meet real-world challenges, which is why their Juris Doctor (JD) program includes a mandatory professional placement, as well as immersive bootcamps designed to teach students everything from coding to innovative business skills.
