The 26th of July Mehwar runs from the heart of Cairodirectly to the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, Egypt’s mainthoroughfare. From there, it’s just a few minutes’ drive toWestown Hub. Individual buildings flow andmerge to form five distinct blocks with ameandering structure linking them together.The result is an urban oasis of tranquil, secludedspaces and a bustling public square – part city,part park and part shopping centre.

Hassan Abouseda ArchitectsHassan Abouseda received his Bachelor ofScience in Art & Design ('83) and Master ofArchitecture ('87) from M.I.T.While working for a number of architecturalfirms in the Cambridge area, he also taughtarchitectural design at The MassachusettsCollege of Art.

In 1990, Abouseda moved to New York Citywhere he turned his attention to furniture

design. In 1994 he opened HAF, a furnitureshowroom and design studio in Soho. Duringthat time, he was also teaching Furniture andInterior Design at Parsons School of Design.

In 2000, Abouseda decided to re-focus hispractice on architecture and interior design. Hisprojects include houses in Egypt, EasthamptonNY and Upstate NY, as well as apartments andrestaurants in New York City.

In 2009, Abouseda moved back to Egypt wherehe established Hassan Abouseda Architects.

Mona HusseinFounder of the company Temple of Light, Mona

Hussein has been the creative force behindsome of the region’s most elegant houses,apartments, and hotels. Her work includes thedesign and furnishing of a range of hotels bythe Red Sea, the Rotana Resort & Spa – Ras alKhaimah, UAE, and Orascom’s office inMorocco. Mona Hussein was selectedspecifically for her extensive expertise in designand decoration.
