what is sports search?

• The results of these tests automaticallycalculate a personal physical profile for theindividual. This profile is used to rank thesports the individual is best suited to bycross-referencing with unique algorithms thathave been developed and tested by some ofthe world's leading sports scientists.

• Once a choice of sport from this list hasbeen made, sports search gives the individualdetails of the closest club specialising in thissport. It also notifies the club that anindividual with the potential to succeed inthe sport has been identified.

sports search involves anyindividual completing aseries of 11 simple physicaltasks and entering the resultsgained into the sports hubonline system.

pilot & research

• Without any formal promotion, the pilot succeededin attracting over 300 secondary schools. Theyremain registered and waiting to use the programme.

• In addition, every teacher that worked with it saidthat they would recommend the programme.

Subsequent independent research carried out inFebruary 2004 amongst PE teachers concluded.

• Only 8% of teachers were wary of using such asystem in their school.

• 94% were willing to pay between 75p and £2.00 per pupil per year for such a service.

An equivalent sports search programmewas successfully piloted by SportEngland from September 2001 to July2002 with over 40 secondary schoolsand over 1500 pupils in 3 differentparts of the UK.
