Rachel Buoye received a bachelor of arts in English with a minor in journalism from the University of Kan-sas in December.

Area residents named to the State University of New York at Potsdam president’s list in recognition of their academic excellence in the Fall 2014 semester include:•Evelyn Bennett of Rochester, whose major is psychology•Daniel Costa of Spencerport, whose major is biology•Michael Leonardi of Holley, whose major is environmental studies•Jordan Ott of Hilton, whose major is childhood/early childhood education•Austin Raetz of Churchville, whose major is history•Genevieve Ruhland of North Chili, whose major is music performance•Madeline Vandervoort of Rochester, whose major is music education•Margaret Wall of Rochester, whose major is community health

To achieve the honor of being on the president’s list each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically-graded semester hours, with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Students at the State University of New York at Potsdam who excelled academically in the fall 2014 semester and were named to the SUNY Potsdam dean’s list include:•Patrick Bonafede of Churchville, whose major is business administration (bachelor of science)•Kristian Sarkis of Rochester, whose major is art studio

To achieve the honor of being on the dean’s list each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically-graded semester hours, with a grade point average of between 3.25 and 3.49 in the given semester.

Jonathan Woo, of Rochester, qualified for the fall 2014 dean’s list at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

Morgan Rath, a Kendall native, received academic honors from Arizona State University by making the University’s dean’s list for the spring 2014 semester.

Undergraduate students who earn 12 or more graded semester hours during a semester in residence at ASU with a GPA of 3.50 or higher are eligible for the dean’s list.

Kaitlyn Shamp, daughter of Dick and Kris Shamp of Chili, has been named to the fall 2014 dean’s list at St. John Fisher College. Shamp, a sophomore, is a sociology major.

To be eligible for the dean’s list at St. John Fisher Col-lege, a student must have attained at least a 3.5 grade-point average for the semester.

Abigail Muir, daughter of Rick and Debbie Curtis of Penfield and John and Pamela Muir of Hilton, has been named to the fall 2014 dean’s list at St. John Fisher College. Muir, a freshman, is an accounting major.

To be eligible for the dean’s list at St. John Fisher Col-lege, a student must have attained at least a 3.5 grade-point average for the semester.

The following students were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2014 semester at SUNY Polytechnic Insti-tute.•Ian Jessop of Churchville, computer and information science•Nicholas Hagen of Hilton, civil engineering•Corrina Marconi of Rochester, undeclared major

Rachel Turlington of Hamlin, a 2014 graduate of Brockport High School who now attends the College at Brockport, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2014 semester. She is majoring in communications with a focus on public relations and a minor in sociology. She earned a GPA of 3.48 for the semester.

Jessica Dusett of Hamlin, a 2010 graduate of Brockport High School who now attends the College at Brockport, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2014 semester. She is majoring in sociology and criminal jus-tice with a minor in forensic science. She earned a GPA of 3.67 for the semester.

Students at Lehigh University attained dean’s list in fall 2014. This status is granted to students who earned a scholastic average of 3.6 or better while carrying at least 12 hours of regularly graded courses. •Tyler Edwards of Spencerport, •Malcolm Erdogan of Spencerport.

Patrick Jones of Churchville has been named to the president’s list for the fall 2014 semester at SUNY Poly-technic Institute. Jones is a computer and information science - BS/MS student at SUNY Poly.

A semester grade point average of 3.60 or above quali-fies full-time, matriculated students for inclusion on the president’s list.

Serafina Breslawski, a 2013 graduate of Brockport High School and daughter of Kim and Steven Breslawski of Brock-port, achieved a 3.8 GPA and was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2014 semester at The College at Brockport. She is in the honors program and is an arts for chil-dren major with a concentration in dance studies. She is currently working on her certification in elementary education.

Emily J. Banzer, daughter of Robert Banzer of Brockport, has been named to the dean’s list at Hamilton College for the 2014 fall semester.

To be named to the dean’s list, a student must have carried throughout the semester a course load of four or more graded credits with an average of 3.5 or above.

Banzer, a senior majoring in anthropology and French, is a graduate of Brockport Central School.

Herkimer College awarded academic honors to 491 students for the fall 2014 semester. Jenna R. Jagodz-inski of Rochester, criminal justice: forensic investiga-tors was one of 171 students named to the president’s list for earning a grade point average of 3.80 or higher.

North Chili resident Alexa A. Dunlap, an undeclared major at DeSales University, made dean’s list for the fall 2014 semester. To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must have a minimum 3.25 GPA out of a 4.0 scale.

Erin Norris of Hilton graduated from the University of New Haven in August 2014 with a master of science degree.

Major General Patrick A. Murphy, The Adjutant General for the State of New York, announces the promo-tion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsi-bility and leadership.•Robert Bretz from Rochester, (14624) and serving with the 222nd Military Police Company is promoted to the rank of sergeant.•Adam Francisco from Brockport and serving with the 222nd Military Police Company is promoted to the rank of sergeant.
