Wilmot Cancer Institute receives radiation oncology accreditationUR Medicine’s Radiation Oncology at Wilmot Cancer

Institute Park Ridge in Greece has been accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for demonstrating high practice standards and quality care in radiation oncology.

The ACR seal of accreditation represents the highest level of quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards developed by ACR after a peer-review evalua-tion by board-certified radiation oncologists and medical physicists.

These experts assess the quality of patient care and treat-ment, patient safety, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs. They then report their findings to the ACR Committee on Radiation Oncology Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.

“We are delighted that the ACR has designated UR Medicine Radiation Oncology at Park Ridge an accredited facility,” said Bingren Liu, M.D., radiation oncologist. “This accreditation reflects our commitment to quality and safety in all aspects of patient care from initial consultation to long-term survivorship. It also reflects the dedication of a Radiation Oncology team who is committed to providing our community world-class care close to home.”

Six other UR Medicine Radiation Oncology sites have been accredited, including: •Wilmot Cancer Center at Strong Memorial Hospital •Highland Hospital •Pluta Cancer Center in Henrietta •Sands Cancer Center in Canandaigua •Wilmot Cancer Institute Hornell •Wilmot Cancer Institute Batavia

“The accreditation of UR Medicine Radiation Oncol-ogy by ACR reflects our long-standing commitment to our patients and community and to excellence in high-quality cancer treatment by board-certified Radiation Oncologists through our advanced radiation treatment technology,” said Yuhchyau Chen, M.D., Ph.D., chair of UR Medicine Radia-tion Oncology. “We have held this designation since 2002, and we are proud that all seven of our practice sites provide the highest quality care to patients in the Rochester and Finger Lakes region.”

The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 36,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
