Missionary Memo August 31, 2014

West Village continues to be

blessed. We have seen our

highest attendance numbers ever

in the months of July and August. We continue to see new faces

each and every week - it is a very exciting time in the life of our

church. Just this past Sunday we baptized a 75 year old lady who

had never been to church before. When she started attending West

Village she spoke and understood no English. He daughter was

translating the sermons into Spanish for her, but it was terribly

distracting for the rest of our community so she had to

stop. However the mother continued to attend. She said that

whenever she attends the Gathering she is able to understand the

sermon in perfect English! Through this gift of the Holy Spirit she

came to faith in Jesus! Her daughter who was baptized just a year

and half ago baptized her in our friends hot tub just this past

Sunday. Praise God! We have also begun first church plant

residency - moving our first church planter to Victoria with hopes

to plant our first church in the next 2-3 years.

Our little family is growing. We have since our last time talking

adopted a 5 year old boy who's mother came to faith at West

Village, but died recently of cancer. We are all doing well as we

adjust to this new life together.

Thanks and blessings!

Quote for Today:

“Prayer does change things, all kinds of things. But the most important thing

it changes is us. As we engage in this communion with God more deeply and

come to know the One with whom we are speaking more intimately, that

growing knowledge of God reveals to us all the more brilliantly who we are

and our need to change in conformity to Him. Prayer changes us

profoundly.” ― R.C. Sproul, The Prayer of the Lord
