Pic 171 is way out in the countryside. We had never been there before, and were honoured guests. They gave us water from a bowl to drink, which is their way of welcoming people.

Pic 147 is an "earth priestess" from the countryside village. She is in charge of the village shrine. The horse tail whip is her ceremonial object.

Traditional chief garb, the equivalent of a suit and tie for the mayor.This woman is an American who has been selected as a tribal chief in the village of Tamale, Ghana. It is not only a ceremonial position.

Pic 64 is in a village on the outskirts of Tamale. There is a reservoir a mile or so away from the village, and the women/kids are getting water for drinking and cooking.

Pic 72 is what the houses look like in that village.

Pic 378 is a youth cultural group that teaches traditional activities (dance, in this case, but also arts & crafts) to at-risk kids as an after school activity.

457 is one of the more famous waterfalls in Ghana. It actually comes out from inside of the rock just upstream. Guy in yellow is a 6’2” American.

Pic 492 is a very small glimpse of the Kumasi marketplace, an outdoor market, and West Africa's largest.
