WELDER FABRICATOR TECHNICIANThis position is under the direct supervision of a Wharfinger to perform welding, fabrication, repairand maintenance of dock structures, gates, walkways, handrails, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Cuts and/or joins metal parts to fabricate orrepair gates, handrails, equipment stands,pipe racks, ship panels, etc., using toolssuch as a plasma cutter, welder, torch, chopsaw grinder and other power tools Experienced in pipe and plate layouts Proficiency in arc, mig, tig welding and softsolder techniques to join metals such as;malleable steel, carbon steel, stainless steeland copper joints and fittings. Experienced in gauge settings ofoxyacetylene and argon equipment, arcwelder, mig welderProcures parts, materials and equipmentnecessary to complete jobsMaintains inventory of PCCA owned toolsand equipmentWorks on structures over the water and/orfrom platforms on the waterIdentifies and reports needed repairs toPCCA buildings and equipmentTake charge or assists with minor to majordock repairsAssists other crews with basic plumbing,electrical, carpentry or mechanical work toachieve maximum departmental efficiency Tier 3 status designation

Directs and trains assigned crew in dailygeneral preventative maintenance of facilitiesand buildingAssures work area, tools and equipment arecleaned upon completion of assignments Confers with supervisor in the performance ofcrew members. Makes recommendations andkeeps supervisor informed of work issuesInterprets company policies to crew andensures adherence to company policies andprocedures. Works towards a safe andpositive work environment Promotes safety awareness andenvironmental consciousness, and complieswith all applicable safety environmentalprocedures and regulationsDrives vehicles as necessary to completeassigned duties Will respond to damages, which affectmaritime traffic, after hours and on weekendson a rotational basisWill utilize software to track the status ofassigned work orders, to create new workorders, and preventative maintenance needsPerforms other duties as assignedCPR certified or ability to become CPRcertified within the first year of employment

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIESAbility to perform essential job functions,including but not limited to frequent standing,walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typingand occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling,lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds with orwithout reasonable accommodationMust be able to walk and stand on leveland/or inclined surfaces for certain periodsthroughout the day. Must be able to climbstairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands. Mustbe able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handleobjects, use finger dexterity, bendelbow/knee and reach above/belowshouldersAbility to work in a general office environmentwith some exposure to the elements whenvisiting work sites.
