Reading• Please sign your child’s Reading Records regularly but
at least every time your child has read to you (minimum 5 x weekly, 10 minutes per night). Raffle ticket given for each time they have read five times (half termly draw)
• Every morning, we will check Reading Records for reading and parent/carer signatures and record whether or not your child has read at home.
• Please encourage your child to practice learning the key words from their text and ask them relevant questions about the books that they are reading to ensure they are gaining meaning from the text.
English
• This half-term we are reading: The Day the Crayons Quit’ by Drew Dewalt
• Spellings – tested every Monday and new spellings to be given out on Tuesdays.
• SPaG Focus for this half term: Clear sentences with punctuation and capital letters.
• Expectations of presentation.• Handwriting – practiced 3 times weekly.
Maths
• Areas of learning this term: Place Value and Number. • Real life problem solving.• Presentation of work.• TT Rockstars: To know by heart all the times tables up
to x12 by the end of Year 4 (daily practice).• We are excited to be introducing a new teaching scheme
called Maths No Problem, from after half-term. More information for parents and carers will be available throughout the year.
Homework
• Maths and English homework will be given weekly on a Friday. This will be taken from the CGP books, provided at the beginning of the year.
• Weekly Spellings.• Times table practise via TT Rockstars. • Daily reading (minimum of 5 times per week). • Information stuck in the Homework/reading diary,
but also will be put on Class Dojo
Physical Education
• Tuesday and Wednesday – PE and games kit
PE Kit• White T-shirt or House T Shirt• Black shorts• Black pumps
Winter Games Kit• Plain tracksuit - no footballstrip• Trainers
Healthy Minds
• Water bottles – access all day• Morning snack.• Healthy lunchboxes.• Healthy School Meals.
