REFLECTIONS FOR THE WEEK

Question for Children: Jesus appeared to the disciples even though they were afraid and locked in the closed room. How can you

show Jesus to another person this week by how you act?

Question for Youth: Thomas didn’t believe because he hadn’t seen Jesus with his own eyes. How hard is it for you to believe in

God without being able to see God? How do you see God in the words and actions of others?

Question for Adults: Jesus said: "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe." Give one example of how you will show

your belief in Jesus this week - how you are being sent forth.

Drive will take place from April 9 through April 17, 2016. The Sacred

Heart conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will have 2

barrels in the gathering space to collect donations.

shelters, as well as SVdP families in need.

ATTENTION BUSINESS OWNERS,

PROFESSIONALS AND SELF EMPLOYED Liturgical Publications Inc. (LPi), our Bulletin publisher, will have a

representative visiting our church the week of April 4 to sell

advertising in our weekly Bulletin. We would like to thank our present

advertisers for renewing their ad and thereby continuing their

support of our Church. For those interested in placing a new ad,

this is your opportunity, to invest in an ad.

Our Bulletin is a primary way we use to communicate with you. Through

our arrangement with the Liturgical Publications Inc., the Church does

not pay for the Bulletin printing, which saves us thousands of dollars

every year. Our Bulletin is supported only through the generosity of

the advertisers, many of whom are our own Church parishioners or

members of our local community. Please support our advertisers with

your patronage. Tell the business owner that you appreciate their

support of our Church through their advertising in the Bulletin. This is

one small way we can work within our own community. A strong and vibrant Bulletin is good for our community and a strong business community is good for our Church.

To obtain information about advertising for the new publication year,

please contact the Church office and ask for Mike or call Mike

directly at 515.321.3732. Mike’s email is [email protected]. Keep in

mind; our advertising sponsors make the Bulletin possible.

LPi’s representative, Mike Denison, will be calling businesses around

our parish and parishioners, the same week. Be prepared for his call,

please. Any parishioners, can also buy an ad for your favorite charity,

friend or talk to your boss and see if they want to invest in an ad.

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER! A fabulous spaghetti dinner will be served at St. Mary of Nazareth

Church – 4600 Meredith Drive on April 9 from 5-7 pm. We will be

serving spaghetti with a choice of three sauces, a spectacular salad,

bread, and spumoni ice cream. The atmosphere allows people to sit,

visit and enjoy a relaxing evening. Please join us. (Adults - $8.00,

children 5-12 yrs - $4.00, 4 and under – free)

FISH FRYS - THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT A huge thank you to all of the volunteers and patrons at the six Lenten

Friday Fish Frys this year. About 250 volunteers served 1200 pounds of

fish to a record crowd of more than 2200 people throughout the six

weeks. The profits from this event will help pay for teens to attend the

summer mission trip to serve the poor in South Texas in June as well as

the Steubenville Catholic Conference in July. Some of the money will

also be used to provide scholarships to teens allowing them to attend

various youth ministry functions in addition to paying for special events

such as nationally recognized speakers.

Thanks to Loffredo Fresh Produce, Abelardo’s on Grand and

PepperJax Grill for their in kind donations of a portion of the food

served at the Fish Frys.

Bake Sale ! April 9 & 10 after masses. Calling all women to get your

aprons out and make your favorite baked goods! Please bring items after

2pm on Saturday. Proceeds will go to purchase backpacks to be given to

Sacred Heart parish families that need assistance when school starts

next fall.

April Meeting: April 19th at 6:30pm. A little service and a little fun ! We

will be making casseroles for the Family Violence Center and working on

a project to request school supplies to put in the backpacks we purchase

with proceeds from the bake sale. Followed by a game of Bunco.

May Meeting: May 17 at 6pm. A salad supper and more service projects

planned. Please join us at our last meeting before our summer break.

Volunteer Needed:

We are looking for someone to take on the Family Violence

Casserole coordination job. Please contact Helen Biller (225-6837

or [email protected]) or Barb Baker (339-1561 or

[email protected]).

New board members are needed for next year’s Women’s Guild.

Many hand make light work. Please contact Barb Baker if

interested. 339-1561 or [email protected]

participate in this ministry, please let us know. You may RSVP to

[email protected] to reserve a place.

SACRED HEART QUILTERS One of your parish organizations is the Sacred Heart Quilters. We

have been meeting for over thirty years to do hand quilting around a

quilt frame. We do the finishing quilting for people who have a quilt

top, which needs to be finished with the batting and backing. It is not

important that you have never learned to hand quilt. We will teach

you. We meet in the parish meeting room on Wednesday mornings

following Mass and quilt until noon. We have a social time around

10:00 a.m. with coffee/tea and treats. If you would like more

information please call: Deanna Wilson 987-4618 or just show up!

HOLY HUMOR The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a

Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head

of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun

made a note, and posted it on the apple tray: “Take

only ONE. God is watching”. Further down the line

was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child

had written a note: “Take all you want, God is

watching the apples”.

At our Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday, March 26, the

following people received sacraments. Congratulations

CATHOLICS COME HOME The effort to welcome back to the Church inactive Catholics is in full

swing. We have 22 billboards up in both urban and rural areas of the

diocese. We have about 3,000 TV and radio ads airing on both

traditional network and cable stations. We've "boosted" posts on the

diocesan Facebook page, where our messages have reached more than

40,000 newsfeeds.

Watch for this billboard welcoming Catholics home to the Church. It will be posted at multiple sites in both rural and urban areas of our diocese.
