Mr. Lalit SuriFounder, Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Hotels Ltd. was a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. Mr. Suri was also the owner of the Midday newspaper in Delhi. An alumnus of St. Columba's School and Shri Ram College of Commerce, New Delhi, he won a number of prestigious awards and has been responsible for pushing a number of policy recommendations on the tourism sector.


Mr. Lalit Suri’s was a Global Executive Committee member of the renowned World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and Honorary Chairman of the WTTC – India Initiative; the Chairman of the FICCI Tourism CommitteeWTTC – India Initiative; the Chairman of the FICCI Tourism Committee (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) and founder member of Hotel Association of India, a premier Hotel body of the country and also it's Presidentand also it s President.

Bharat Hotels second property started in 1998 with the opening of the ‘The Grand Palace’ in Srinagar.Grand Palace in Srinagar.

On November 30, 2001, ‘The LaLiT Ashok’ Bangalore was added to the h ichain.

In early 2002 BHL successfully bid for ‘Laxmi Vilas Palace’ in Udaipur and

In 2003, two hotels were opened, as new builds; The super luxury resort, with its very own golf course ‘The LaLiT Goa Resort’ and ‘The L LiT M b i’LaLiT Mumbai’.

Dr Jyotsna Suri has been associated with Bharat Hotels since its inception. In the year 1987, she became the Group's Joint Managing Director. She took on the mantle of Chairperson & Managing Director of Bharat Hotels in the year 2006 and since has been the driving force of the Group’s operations across India.

On November 19, 2008 she charted a highly successful brand change for the company. All luxury hotels now fly “THE LALIT” flag under The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, as a tribute to the company's Founder Chairman Mr Lalit Suri.

On the academic front, she is an alumnus of the famous Lawrence School, Sanawar and has graduated in English Honours from Miranda House College, Delhi University.

Dr Suri is known for her vociferous promotion of Indian tourism – both nationally and internationally. “Developing Destinations and not just hotels” is her conviction.

A multifaceted personality, she is a patron of art, culture, sports and education. She alsodrives the CSR initiatives of the group. Dr Jyotsna Suri has been holding various portfolios with the Industry Associations namely –Vice President of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) andChairperson of the FICCI Tourism Committee for the last six years and the only woman todo so Chairperson of the CII's J&K Taskforce on the “Revival of Kashmir” the only Indiando so, Chairperson of the CII's J&K Taskforce on the “Revival of Kashmir”, the only Indianmember on the International Executive Committee of the World Travel and TourismCouncil (WTTC), Executive Member of Hotel Association of India, the only womanPresident of All India Organization of Employers (AIOE).
