Crown him the Lord of love!Behold his hands and side, rich wounds yet visible abovein beauty glorified:no angel in the skycan fully bear that sight, but downward bends his burning eyeat mysteries so bright.

Crown him the Lord of peace, whose power a sceptre swaysfrom pole to pole, that wars may cease, absorbed in prayer and praise:his reign shall know no end,and round his pierced feetfair flowers of Paradise extendtheir fragrance ever sweet.

Crown him the Lord of years, the potentate of time, creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime.Glassed in a sea of light, where everlasting wavesreflect his throne - the infinite!who lives - and loves - and saves.

THE PRAYER OF PREPARATION

All Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYERS OF PENITENCE

Celebrant Our Lord Jesus Christ said: The first commandment is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength’. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’. There is no other commandment greater than these. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

All Amen. Lord have mercy.

Celebrant Jesus says, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is close at hand.’ So let us turn away from sin and turn to Christ, confessing our sins in penitence and faith.

All Lord God, we have sinned against you; we have done evil in your sight. We are sorry and repent. Have mercy on us according to your love. Wash away our wrongdoing and cleanse us from our sin. Renew a right spirit within us and restore to us the joy of your salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

Page 4: Welcome to St Margaret’s Church Ifield€¦  · Web viewand hail him as thy matchless King. ... Crown him the virgin’s Son, the God incarnate born, whose arm those crimson trophies

Celebrant Almighty God, who forgives all who truly repent, have mercy upon us, pardon and deliver us from all our sins, confirm and strengthen us in all goodness, and keep us in life eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

All Amen.

We stand for:AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

All We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSIONPrayers for the Church, the world, and for all human need. After each petition the following responses may be used:

We stand to share the peace:The PeaceCelebrant To crown all things there must be love, to bind all

together and complete the whole. Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts.

The peace of the Lord be always with you. All And also with you.Deacon Let us offer one another a sign of peace.

As the Body of Christ receives its life from God, and offers its life to God, so we, as members of that Body, greet each other in love.

Keith Getty and Stuart Townsend©2001 Thankyou MusicIn Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength, my song;this cornerstone, this solid ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My comforter, my all in all—here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh, fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness, scorned by the ones He came to save.Till on that cross as Jesus died, the wrath of God was satisfied;for ev'ry sin on Him was laid—here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay, light of the world by darkness slain;then bursting forth in glorious day,up from the grave He rose again! And as He stands in victory, sin's curse has lost its grip on me;for I am His and He is mine—bought with the precious blood of Christ.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

Page 10: Welcome to St Margaret’s Church Ifield€¦  · Web viewand hail him as thy matchless King. ... Crown him the virgin’s Son, the God incarnate born, whose arm those crimson trophies

No guilt in life, no fear in death—this is the pow'r of Christ in me;from life's first cry to final breath,Jesus commands my destiny. No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,can ever pluck me from His hand;till He returns or calls me home—here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.

Celebrant Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation; through your goodness we have this bread and wine to offer which the earth has given and human hands have made. They will become for us the bread of life and cup of salvation.

All Blessed be God for ever.

We sit or stand for:The Eucharistic Prayer

The Lord is hereAll His Spirit is with us.

Lift up your hearts. All We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.All It is right to give thanks and praise.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

Page 11: Welcome to St Margaret’s Church Ifield€¦  · Web viewand hail him as thy matchless King. ... Crown him the virgin’s Son, the God incarnate born, whose arm those crimson trophies

Celebrant It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, that we should always sing of your glory, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. For you are the hope of the nations, the builder of the city that is to come. Your love made visible in Jesus Christ brings home the lost, restores the sinner and gives dignity to the despised. In his face your light shines out, flooding lives with goodness and truth, gathering into one in your kingdom a divided and broken humanity. Therefore with all who can give voice in your creation we glorify your name, for ever praising you and singing:

A Gregory Murray, OSB 1905-1992©1975, 1987 McCrimmon Publishing LtdAll Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,

Heaven and earth are full of your glory.Hosanna in the highest.Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.Hosanna in the highest.

We praise and bless you, loving Father, through Jesus Christ, our Lord; and as we obey his command, send your Holy Spirit, that broken bread and wine outpoured may be for us the body and blood of your dear Son.

On the night before he died he had supper with his friends and, taking bread, he praised you. He broke the bread, gave it to them and said: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

Page 12: Welcome to St Margaret’s Church Ifield€¦  · Web viewand hail him as thy matchless King. ... Crown him the virgin’s Son, the God incarnate born, whose arm those crimson trophies

When supper was ended he took the cup of wine. Again he praised you, gave it to them and said: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

So, Father, we remember all that Jesus did, in him we plead with confidence his sacrifice made once for all upon the cross. Bringing before you the bread of life and cup of salvation, we proclaim his death and resurrection until he comes in glory.

Deacon Great is the mystery of faith:All Christ has died:

Christ is risen:Christ will come again.

Lord of all life, help us to work together for that daywhen your kingdom comes and justice and mercy will be seen in all the earth. Look with favour on your people, gather us in your loving arms and bring us with St Margaret and all the saints to feast at your table in heaven. Through Christ, and with Christ, and in Christ,in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory are yours, O loving Father, for ever and ever.

All Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’

(Romans 15:7)

Page 13: Welcome to St Margaret’s Church Ifield€¦  · Web viewand hail him as thy matchless King. ... Crown him the virgin’s Son, the God incarnate born, whose arm those crimson trophies

All Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done,on earth as in heaven.Give us today our daily bread.Forgive us our sins,as we forgive those who sin against us.Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yoursnow and forever. Amen.

The Breaking of the BreadThe Priest breaks the consecrated bread

We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. All Though we are many, we are one body,

because we all share in one bread.

The Giving of CommunionDraw near with faith. Receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ which he gave for you, and his blood which he shed for you. Eat and drink in remembrance that he died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving.

We sing the Agnus Dei. A Gregory Murray, OSB 1905-1992©1975, 1987 McCrimmon Publishing Ltd
