We pray that in this time of worship you will EXPERIENCE the good news of God’s love, so that together we might be sent out into the world to LIVE as DiSCIPLes and SHARE the love of Jesus Christ. HOLY COMMUNION: All the baptized are welcome at God’s table. We will be communing at four stations – the ushers will direct you. As you come forward, if you want to receive the wine pick up an empty cup. If you prefer grape juice, pick up one of the pre-filled cups. Upon receiving the bread, move to receive the wine… then place your empty cups in the baskets provided. Gluten-free wafers are available—go to one of the pastors, raise your index finger to indicate a gluten-free wafer is desired. Those not communing are encouraged to come forward for a blessing. To enhance your worship experience several items are available on table near the Usher's Cart at the entrance of the Sanctuary: -- Acvity bags for children, SPARK Bibles -- Children’s bullens -- Hearing enhancement devices (available at the Sound table) -- Large print Bibles Aended Nursery An aended nursery is available for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. It is located down at the end of the hall to the leſt of the sanctuary as you enter the building (southwest corner of the building). 2018 ELCA Youth Gathering So far, ten youth have pre-registered for next summer’s ELCA Youth Gathering to be held in Houston, Texas. The theme of the 2018 gathering is “This Changes Everything” based on Ephesians 2:8, “By grace you have been saved…” All youth who will be a part of the graduating classes of 2018-2022 are eligible to attend. There is still time to register and join in what will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The deadline for registration is October 16. If you have any questions please contact Pastor Alex.

Meals On Wheels Thank you to all volunteers delivering meals for the month of October. Your helping hand and loving heart are greatly appreciated.

D-Way Food Collection On Wednesday, October 25, our 5th - 8th graders will once again be conducting a food collection for our local food shelf. I hope if they stop at your home you will be prepared to give generously! You can give either non-perishable food items or cash. If they don’t happen to stop by at your door, simply bring your donation to worship on Sunday, October 29. The food shelf is in need of size 4 and 5 diapers as well as baby wipes.

2017 Junior High Youth Gathering All 7th and 8th graders are invited to the SW MN Synod Junior High Youth Gathering in Willmar, MN, November 18-19. This year’s theme is “Rooted in Faith,” based on Colossians 2:7. Some of the many things that you will experience at the gathering include great music, games, service projects, worship, speakers, and much more! Forms and money are due by October 15. We are also in need of adult leaders to lead our students. Please contact Pastor Alex with any questions.

55+ Trip St. John’s goes to St. John’s Abbey!

October 10, 2017 - 1:00p.m.

† We will visit an exhibit on the Bible and the Reformation entitled “Rebirth, Reform and Revision.”

† Brother Paul August Jasmer, OSB, will play some Lutheran hymns for us on the Abbey organ, which was the last great work of Walter Holtkamp.

† Each car load may choose lunch on their own.

St. John’s will once again be participating in the Chamber’s Halloween event in downtown Annandale from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on October 31. Be sure to stop by the St. John’s table and get some candy!

First Communion Gathering Over the next few months we will welcoming our young members as they receive their First Communion. May we lift them up during this joyous milestone.

Celebrating Pastor Dave - Today! We will be honoring Pastor Dave for his 35 years of ordained ministry & 10 years serving here at St. John’s. The church council will be serving treats after both services. A sing-a-long of songs written by Pastor Dave will be held between services. Please join us for the celebration of Pastor Dave’s gifts & the sharing of them here at St. John’s. Please fill out a Thank You card on the table for him.

Nursery Attendants Needed We are looking for adults and high school students that would like to work in our Sunday nursery. You can work one or both services. This is a paid position. Please contact the church office for more information.
