Welcome to our Parish Saint Benedict the Moor Bienvenidos a nuestra parroquia San Benito el moro Rectory and Parish 1625 E. 12th St. Winston-Salem, N.C. 27101 Phone: 336-725-9200 Fax: 336-397-0898 May 12, 2019 Today’s Readings Acts 13:14, 43-52 Psalm 100:1-2, 3, 5 Revelation 7:9, 14b-17 John 10:27-30 Pastor, Fr. Henry A. Tutuwan (980)616-6676 [email protected] Lectura, as de Hoy Hechos 13:14, 43-52 Salmo 100:1-2, 3, 5 Apocalipsis 7:9, 14b-17 Juan 10:27-30 The first reading tells of Paul’s and Barnabas’s efforts to bring the good news to Israel. But Is- rael is not willing to hear a new message. The good news is never something that we can say we have heard and to which we have respond- ed. God’s word, the gospel, is always a present word. Each time we really hear the gospel, we hear something new, something we have not heard before. The good news stretches us. It makes us complacent, it gives us the satisfac- tion that we are the in crowd and those other poor people just do not have a clue, we are in danger of being in the same situation as the Jews in this reading. When we evangelize, we do not have a prepack- aged product to sell to as many people as possi- ble. Rather we offer an invitation to enter into the presence of the living Christ. In his presence we are all transformed and will continue to be trans- formed as long as we live. It is a temptation for Christians to feel they already have experienced the gospel and committed to it, and so resist the pull of God to move forward toward the kingdom. Yet if we do not follow God’s call in our lives and situations today, we are in danger of being left behind.

Apocalipsis 7:9, 14b-17 Juan 10:27-30

The first reading tells of Paul’s and Barnabas’s

efforts to bring the good news to Israel. But Is-

rael is not willing to hear a new message. The

good news is never something that we can say

we have heard and to which we have respond-

ed. God’s word, the gospel, is always a present

word. Each time we really hear the gospel, we

hear something new, something we have not

heard before. The good news stretches us. It

makes us complacent, it gives us the satisfac-

tion that we are the in crowd and those other

poor people just do not have a clue, we are in

danger of being in the same situation as the

Jews in this reading. When we evangelize, we do not have a prepack-aged product to sell to as many people as possi-ble. Rather we offer an invitation to enter into the presence of the living Christ. In his presence we are all transformed and will continue to be trans-formed as long as we live.
