recreation+tourismwww.visitmo.com

Local Attractions | www.visitrolla.com | www.hermannmissouri.comRivers, forested hills and bubbling springs – they’re all part of the natural appeal of south-central Missouri. Along the Current, Meramec and Jack’s Fork Rivers are caves, springs and bluffs. By canoe or boat, you can enjoy an old Missouri favorite: a fun and refreshing float trip. Bring your own gear or rent from an outfitter along the water. Nearby Saint James is the home of Meramec Spring Park, where there’s trout fishing, a nature center and more. Highly-acclaimed wineries both in Saint James and Hermann are also very popular attractions.

Saint Louis | www.explorestlouis.comJust over an hour from Rolla down Historic Route 66, Missouri’s largest city offers a thriving, modern metropolis that celebrates every-thing from industries in biotechnology and brewing to baseball and bicycles. Professional sports teams, historic districts, upscale shopping, fine dining, river cruises, family entertainment, the arts, amusement parks, museums, the zoo and more await. Be sure to see the Arch!

Lake of the Ozarks | www.funlake.comAbout 70 minutes from Rolla, the Lake of the Ozarks is the state’s premiere all-around vacation spot. The lake offers a wide choice of water sports, boating and fishing. The surrounding communities offer a wide selection of entertainment, family theme parks, amusement centers, fine dining, entertainment, retail and outlet shopping, sports and golf.

Springfield | www.springfieldmo.org

Just over an hour southwest of Rolla, Springfield offers a unique mix of large-city amenities and hometown hospitality. Family oriented recreation and attractions are just a few things you’ll find. Catch a minor league baseball game, stop by Lambert’s for lunch, explore Fantastic Caverns or visit any of the community’s museums, shopping areas, renowned restaurants, ice rink or parks. Outdoor enthusiasts won’t want to miss Bass Pro Shops.

Branson | www.branson.com

Branson is one of Missouri’s liveliest cities. There is something for everyone in Branson. Popular for its country music shows and family entertainment, Branson also features a sample of the Ozarks as one travels back in time at Silver Dollar City or Shepherd of the Hills. For the outdoor lover, look to Branson’s Table Rock Lake. For the shopper, check out Branson’s outlet shopping. Branson is located 2 ½ hours southwest of Rolla.

Kansas City | www.visitkc.com

About 3 ½ hours from Rolla, Kansas City is a bit of a drive, but well worth the visit. Famous for its jazz and barbeque, Missouri’s second largest city is a dynamic metropolitan area backed by a vibrant arts scene, world-class attractions and an eclectic mix of shops. Be sure to check out historic Country Club Plaza, the Power and Light District, Crown Center or one of Kansas City’s professional sports teams. And don’t forget to stop for some barbeque!
